Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Comprehensive Oral Health houses several disciplines including, Periodontology, Dental Hygiene, Comprehensive Dentistry, Operative Dentistry/BioMaterials, Prosthodontics, and Endodontics. The Dental Hygiene discipline focuses on the practice of keeping the mouth, teeth, and gums clean and healthy to prevent disease.
Position Summary:The Dental Hygiene Program in the Division of Comprehensive Oral Health, UNC School of Dentistry, is seeking an adjunct faculty member for laboratory and/or clinical teaching. This position is responsible for clinical teaching and will supervise students (DH and DDS) providing patient care to a diverse patient population, participate in calibration with other faculty, and engage in remediation of DH students. The adjunct faculty member must demonstrate and model the expertise expected of a dental hygiene professional and attend training when necessary.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:Applicants must have graduated from a CODA-accredited Dental Hygiene program.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:Successful candidates will have a minimum of two years of clinical dental hygiene experience, a commitment to providing hands-on patient care, and enjoy interacting with students
