Primary Responsibilities:

Summary
Function: Provides highly skilled administrative assistance in a critical area. Scope: Manages preparation of high priority and sensitive materials; exercises independent judgment in a wide variety of routine and complex office decisions.

Duties Essential:
Assists the Dean of the College of Humanities and Sciences and the college department chairs in office operations. Has major responsibilities in supporting class scheduling, using departmental budgets, assisting with curriculum paperwork and program assessment reporting, and generally supporting the dean and chairs. Advises students, with focus on students in Humanities and Natural & Behavioral Sciences programs. Communicates ideas and numerical information clearly in speech, writing, and spreadsheets. Operates computer using advanced expertise for word processing, spreadsheet applications, and/or data base management. May assign and review work of clerical staff. Keeps various administrative fiscal records for reporting office funds and individual project expenditures; prepares and/or verifies documents for accuracy such as class schedules, Human Resources forms, annual reports, correspondence, etc. Uses Banner for requisitioning supplies and compiling financial reports. Creates and processes travel applications and vouchers for travel. Prepares meeting agendas, takes and transcribes minutes of committee meetings as assigned; composes correspondence for signature; produces complex reports which may include research, calculation, and composition. Must have advanced expertise for word processing, spreadsheet applications, and/or data base management, and must learn to use university administrative systems for entering data queries and generating readable reports using that data.

Received: Broad instructions on policy and procedure.
Given: Supervises student and other classified employees.

Working Conditions
Usual: Office conditions; standard hours; exempt from overtime provisions. Position is Security Sensitive.
Special: May be required to work evenings/weekends for university events

Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times.
