Position Summary:

This position is for an Application Coordinator on the Inpatient Clinical Documentation team. This application builds and supports the documentation tools for multiple clinicians across various areas, including nursing (RN, PCA), and health professionals (e.g. PT, OT, SLP, RD, chaplains). Application Coordinators will also work with clinicians to determine the design and configuration that will most appropriately meet the requirements of the clinical staff. Build will include various Epic tools used within the scope of documentation including flowsheets, notes, worklist tasks, medication administration record and reports as well as others. Clin Doc covers clinicians at the acute and community hospitals, as well as inpatient rehabilitation, long term care and home hospital. Application coordinators will be responsible for the support of our build within the system and will cover call (days, nights and weekends) for all sites. Application coordinators will also build and support some reports within the Epic system.

The ideal candidate for this position will be Epic certified in Inpatient Clinical Documentation and will have 5+ years of healthcare information technology experience.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Act as part of a team of software application and workflow experts to provide design & build expertise to analyze organization's current business practices and translate them into configurations and workflows, for successful product implementation

• Ability to help guide decisions using application knowledge and analysis in a timely fashion

• Participates in peer review for quality assurance of team member build, and assists with onboarding & mentoring of new team members

• Works closely with end users to document business requirements, and translates those requirements into functional specifications and/or system build/configuration for the software application

• Develops and executes test plans and performs other software quality assurance tasks

• Provides ongoing support of the software applications by identifying and resolving issues, and escalating as needed for timely resolution

• Provides high quality, customer-focused services

• Runs reports, updates tables and performs other tasks associated with the ongoing operation of the software environment

• Participates in regular team meetings to discuss team activities, issues and updates

• Acts as team delegate/representative at department, project or other meetings, as assigned

• Participates as needed with review of the training curriculum and end user documentation for the applications user community

Qualifications
Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree required

• 5+ years of healthcare information technology experience

• A combination of education and experience may be substituted for requirements

• Must obtain Certification as outlined by program requirements

• Preferred candidate is Epic certified in Inpatient Clinical Documentation and will have 5+ years of healthcare information technology experience.

Skills/Abilities/Competencies:

• Experience in the development, support or operation of software applications in a healthcare setting

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical staff

• Demonstrated analytic and problem-solving skills

• Ability to learn quickly

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and other popular office productivity solutions

Supervisory and Fiscal Responsibilities:

• No direct reports; may indirectly provide leadership and guidance to less seasoned and new staff

• Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by effectively using Mass General Brigham Resources

Working Conditions:

This position requires Hybrid model and local travel to MGB sites, vendors, and/or conferences

• On-call coverage expected as business needs dictate. Remote days require stable secure HIPPA compliant work station

• Hospital work environment working conditions include possible exposure to diseases or infections and may require safety gear (PPE) such as gloves and mask.

• Normal office working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk; or hear; use hands to finger; handle; or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop; kneel; or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
