Job Summary

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Manages a large team of procurement consultants and procurement reps supporting broad category areas such as be Scientific/IT, Professional Services, and Maintenance, Operations, and Repairs (MRO)/Auxiliaries.
  • Develops and maintains category strategies for assigned categories.
  • Ensures supplier management activities are done regularly, sourcing decisions/requirements flow seamlessly to the sourcing team, and contracts are developed and signed per internal guidelines.
General Responsibilities
  • Establishes operational plans for procurement area and manages day-to-day procurement matters.
  • Sets goals and objectives for team members and provides guidance on difficult or complex issues, including vendors, accounts, negotiations, and contracts.
  • Develops and implements new processes, standards, and policies that impact procurement operations in the short-term.
  • Performs cost analysis and measures effectiveness of price negotiations.
  • Acts as a liaison between university departments and vendors.
  • May provide organizational procurement training.

EDUCATION

Required
  • Bachelor's degree.
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 2 years in relevant field.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Work Location

Bloomington, Indiana or Indianapolis, Indiana

This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), subject to change based on university policy and business needs.

Advertised Salary

$85,000 annually
