The Mathematics Department at The University of Tennessee Knoxville seeks exceptional candidates to fill a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position in Geometric Analysis, starting August 1, 2025.  As a tenure-track faculty, this position has the responsibility of conducting teaching/advising, research, and service for the University. The state of Tennessee is in strong fiscal condition, and the University has provided salary increases for the past ten consecutive years.

Knoxville is a vibrant medium-sized city next to the Tennessee River and the Appalachian Mountains in East Tennessee, with Nashville, Chattanooga, Asheville, and Atlanta all within an approximate 3-hour driving radius. Knoxville has ample opportunity for numerous cultural attractions, with various music and folk festivals such as the Big Ears music festival. The city is also near both the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Cumberland Trail State Park.


Qualifications:

A PhD or equivalent degree in Mathematics is required by the time of appointment. Postdoctoral experience is preferred but not required. While the search is open to all candidates in the area of Geometric Analysis in the broad sense, preference will be given to those candidates whose interests fit well with that of the existing faculty. Evidence of potential for excellence in research and high-quality teaching is required.
