Unit Mission Statement:

The Applied Mathematics Unit at The College of William & Mary supports a collaborative, multi-disciplinary, and integrative approach to teaching and research in applied and computational mathematics, operations research and statistics. Our primary mission is to deliver an exceptional educational experience to our students by providing excellent classroom instruction and first-rate research and mentoring opportunities for our undergraduate and graduate students.

Position Summary:

The Applied Mathematics Unit of the Department of Mathematics at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, seeks applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level in Computational Operations Research (COR). The appointment will begin August 10, 2025. We are interested in individuals with research and teaching expertise in the general area of operations research.
Duties include research, teaching, and service to the University. The applicant is expected to maintain a vibrant research program that inspires highly motivated undergraduate and Master's students and that has the potential to garner external funding. Teaching expectation is two (2) courses per semester. Successful applicants must possess the skills to teach compelling graduate courses in computational operations research and other lecture and seminar-style courses in undergraduate mathematics, and to mentor graduate and undergraduate students. Successful applicants will also have evidence of scholarly achievement or demonstrated potential as a scholar.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Operations Research or a closely related field at the time appointment begins (August 10, 2025).

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in teaching and mentoring successful undergraduate and/or graduate-level research is preferred.
