Position Summary

Working across the Carlyle Group platform and closely coordinating with specific function groups, Carlyle's Insurance Distribution Group (IDG) is seeking an Associate to support the broader IDG team's distribution of offerings across all segments to insurance companies with a presence in North America. These offerings - across publicly-rated, privately rated, and unrated - range from single asset and portfolio financings to bespoke structured and securitized products. The role is a fast-paced, highly competitive role that is rewarded based upon consistent, superior results.

This successful candidate must be self-directed and able to prioritize multiple tasks and work under pressure in a deadline-oriented environment. Select interaction with existing limited partners and potential investors is expected as well as developing proficiency/fluency in the underlying products and structures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain trackers and KPIs for relationships with insurance companies and capture all activity and sales-related data in CRM system.
  • Prepare materials for one-on-one meetings, group presentations and client meetings/events and take accountability for follow-ups from these interactions.
  • Assist in the creation of marketing plans, due diligence materials, customized investor presentations, managed account proposals, quarterly investor letters as well as reviewing responses to DDQs and other investor information requests.
  • Perform research on insurance companies, industry/market trends and developments and develop sound working knowledge of Carlyle's products and services.
  • Effectively manage firm resources, which involve: travel expenses, and entertainment budget.
  • Collaborate with other project managers / segment / product specialists throughout the capital formation process to ensure full coordination and implement best practices and lessons learned from prior initiatives.
  • Support Carlyle's Compliance objectives by liaising with the Legal and Compliance Department.
  • Coordination and logistics of client events, onsite meetings, webinar events, investor conferences.

Qualifications

Education & Certificates

  • Bachelor's degree required

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 3-4 years of experience required.
  • Preferred Experience includes: Investor relations or business development at a private investment firm; investment banking/capital markets; structured products.
  • Existing knowledge of and / or relationships with insurance companies is an advantage
  • Demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations
  • Must have the ability to work in a challenging and collaborative environment.

  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Must have strong relationship building skills.
  • Must be a detail-oriented, well-organized self-starter with high energy and creativity

Competencies & Attributes

  • Advanced Microsoft Office (including Excel and PowerPoint) skills required
  • CRM system including DealCloud is preferred
  • Ability to quickly develop competency in manipulating various reporting platforms and systems to obtain usable client data

Benefits/Compensation

The compensation range for this role is specific to New York and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $150,000.

In addition to the base salary, the hired professional will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package spanning retirement benefits, health insurance, life insurance and disability, paid time off, paid holidays, family planning benefits and various wellness programs. Additionally, the hired professional may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary incentive program, the award of which will be dependent on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
