Position Summary

Working under moderate to minimal supervision, perform manufacturing procedures for the production of bacterial antigens in accordance with Process Worksheets, Standard Operating Procedures and USDA and Zoetis policies and guidelines. Maintain proper documentation and records in accordance with cGMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) principles.

Hours: 1st shift, 6:00am - 2:30pm. Some mandatory overtime, weekend, and holiday work may be required.

Position Responsibilities

  • Batch Bacterin serials utilizing aseptic technique.
  • Perform routine in-process testing using various instruments such as pH meters, spectrophotometers, and filter integrity testers.
  • Perform media weigh and preparation processes to support the assembly process.
  • Prepare and sterilize (autoclave) ancillary equipment to support daily processes.
  • Clean, prep and steam sterilize portable tanks used in the production process.
  • Perform routine cleaning and disinfection of manufacturing space and equipment per established procedures.
  • Comply with cGMP practices and documentation.
  • Perform material handling with hand and powered moving equipment.
  • Inform Team Leader of shop floor issues, concerns, and possible solutions.
  • Demonstrate good housekeeping practices.
  • Comply with all safety programs and procedures.
  • Work with maintenance and engineering to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Demonstrate reliability in attendance and punctuality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Team Leader

Education and Experience
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Job grade entry level.

Technician Skills and Competencies Required
  • Ability to comprehend written and verbal directions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers and leadership.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to effectively use basic math applications (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Ability to document accurately and legibly using cGMP principles.
Preferred qualifications include:
  • Proficient in aseptic technique
  • General departmental knowledge and experience
  • Prior experience in a biological manufacturing setting

Physical Position Requirements
  • Ability to work flexible hours with occasional overtime.
  • Ability to routinely lift 20-50 pounds.
Ability to stand for long periods
