Primary Responsibilities:

SummaryFunction: Working in Business Services to support the budget process and reporting requirements for the University and the departments. This position provides exceptional customer support for all stages of budget and reporting to ensure compliance with federal, sponsor, state and university policies.

Scope:
Working with the administration, departments, and outsourcing vendor on annual budget process and monitoring during the fiscal year. Working closely with other Business Services Analyst to ensure proper reporting within the budget and assuring accuracy of key factor such as faop, budget, and other requirements before processing in purchasing, travel and personnel transactions.

Duties:Essential: Working with departments on individual budgets with budget spreadsheets and Banner screens including training. Support with the budget process including position control. Support also with general reporting, reconciling, and journal entries. Back up support for supervision, purchasing and additional as needed.

  • Assist in the development and reconciliation of the annual salary (position control), benefit, and operating budgets.
  • Maintain and track budget changes during the year.
  • Participate in preparation of actual expense vs. budget variance.
  • Journal preparation, EPAF approvals.
  • Work with outsourced vendor on Banner implementation and maintenance of budgeting modules including Salary Planner, Budget Develop,et, HR Banner, Finance Banner.
  • Creates or maintains confidentiality in the management of information.
  • Collaborate with other employees and departments with a customer serviced focused approach.
  • Complies with policies and procedures of the Department and University.

Non-Essential: Duties within the Business Services area and other duties as assigned.

Required:
  • Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience.
  • Ability to work and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Understand, interpret, and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Effectively communicate in writing and orally.
  • Complete work according to scheduled deadlines.
  • Work with limited supervision.
  • Utilize problem solving techniques to resolve complex issues, and to work independently.

Preferred: Familiar with Ellucian Banner products.

Supervision:
Received: Supervision from Director of Business Services in the Business Services area and the Controller. Cross trained with the departments.

Give: May supervise other analysts as backup and students.
Working ConditionsUsual: Office conditions; standard hours. Position is security sensitive and exempt from overtime provisions. Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times.

Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents, in lieu of stated minimums, require the prior approval of the Human Resources Director.Other Information:

Texas Law requires a 60 day waiting period before new state employees are eligible to enroll in health insurance.

About SRSU:

Sul Ross State University Alpine Campus is in the Scenic Davis Mountains of West Texas, is a member of the Texas State University System, is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Associate, Bachelor's, and Master's degrees, and has an enrollment of approximately 2,000 students of campus in Alpine, Texas. At an elevation of 4,480 feet, and on the periphery of the Chihuahuan Desert, Alpine enjoys mild winters and cool summers. Davis Mountains State Park, Fort Davis National Historic Site, Big Bend National Park, and Guadalupe Mountains National Park are all within one to three hours driving distance from Alpine.

The SRSU campuses in Del Rio, Eagle Pass, and Uvalde comprise Rio Grande College. RGC offers upper-level courses leading to bachelor's degrees as well as master's degree programs and works closely with its partner institution, Southwest Texas Junior College, to provide a seamless transition to RGC for their students. All RGC students hold an Associate degree from an accredited institution or they have completed 42 semester credit hours of transferrable work.
