Purpose

The Development Coordinator is responsible for developing and facilitating bold and innovative approaches to fundraising and resource generation, including soliciting new individual and corporate donors and supporting grant applications. This position is supervised and guided by the Development and Communications Manager and supports the fundraising efforts of CWS Harrisburg, including fundraising events and campaigns, outreach to individual, faith, and corporate donors, and donor recognition.

Responsibilities

Individual/Faith-Based/Corporate Giving:

  • Work directly with Development and Communications Manager to execute a fundraising plan that outlines objectives, timetable, budget, and strategies for implementation.
  • Provide recommendations for strategies and events to increase both the number of individual donors and average giving levels.
  • Coordinate telephonic, in-person, mail, and electronic solicitations, as well as donor acknowledgments.
  • Support research and plan to grow and solicit major donors using CWS Global tools provided.
  • Grow and nurture partnerships with local and national businesses by building relationships and procuring sponsorships for events and programs.
  • With support and approval of the Development and Communications Manager, provides content for regular digital and print communication with individual, faith, and corporate donors through newsletters and other outreach
  • Analyze and report solicitation methods and results.
  • Track donations on a quarterly basis and analyze outcomes versus goals.
  • Collect data for Return on Investment (ROI) analysis.
Special Events and Campaigns:
  • Support the execution of key annual events with a fundraising component with the Development and Communications Manager and the Community Engagement team, such as International Friendsgiving, World Refugee Day, and others, including helping secure event sponsorships, growing earned income and other administrative functions.
  • Support of administrative duties to support special and regular fundraising campaigns including donor acknowledgments.
Grant Writing Support
  • Provide grant writing assistance as directed.
  • Research public and private grant opportunities.
  • Maintain records of acquired grants and applications including successful and failed proposals, grant-maker contact information and focus areas
  • Keep the grants timeline calendar up to date.
  • Liaise with current and new foundation and grantmaking officers and staff to nurture those partnerships and keep them informed as appropriate.
Common Duties:
  • Stay informed about refugee and immigrant issues and policies; advocate for refugee and immigrant friendly policies and practices.
  • Represent CWS in meetings and events relevant to the position as directed.
  • Attend general CWS Harrisburg office staff meetings and events.
  • Undertakes other duties as assigned by the Development and Communications Manager.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in related field is required.

Experience:
  • A minimum of 4 years' nonprofit fundraising or comparable experience
  • Proven experience in multiple fundraising methods with individuals and community-based events.
  • Proven experience in supporting multiple fundraising methods targeted to individuals and community-based events.
  • Strong motivational interpersonal and public verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively.
  • Demonstrated excellence in administration.

  • Flexibility in daily work schedule to accommodate occasional weekend and evening hours.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean, insurable driving record.
