PURPOSE

Under the guidance of the Plant Manager, the Distribution Supervisor will be responsible for supervising the loading of all outbound truck and rail shipments of cement, clinker, coal, and raw materials.Also responsible for monitoring and maintaining appropriate inventories of all coal and other fuels arriving by truck or rail.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Coordinate activities with Sales, Production, quality, and Technical Services as appropriate.
  • Communicates frequently with Customer Service/Dispatch to ensure timely shipments.
  • Work with the railroad for rail car distribution/supply/tracking and to minimize delays and demurrage.
  • Prepare timely and accurate shipping reports for Sales/Production.
  • Monitor terminal inventories and coordinate the timing of shipments.
  • Responsible for maintaining excellent housekeeping in the loading and shipping areas, including scales, cement silos, rail yard, office, truck/trailer parking area, truck loop, and wash rack.
  • Develop workforce on expectations for a world-class shipping department and develop to complete minor maintenance work.
  • Supervise employees to maintain a clean and professional environment including clean and well-stocked restrooms and breakroom facilities for employees, contract drivers, and other visitors.
  • Develop SOP for department

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or equivalent-related college degree preferred.
  • Must have minimum 2 years of experience in cement production and thorough knowledge of the kiln process

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Must be able to multi-task and make sound decisions in a very fast paced and demanding environment
  • Ability to make decisions, troubleshoot problems and assist the Production Supervisor
  • Must have computer knowledge which includes, Windows, Excel, Microsoft and Wonderware Applications
  • Must be able to support a 24/7 facility. This includes multiple shifts, weekends and holidays, when necessary.
  • Must have strong basic mathematics skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Ability to clearly communicate with all plant personnel in all areas of the plant using English
  • Must be computer literate and have ability to learn new software
  • Strong, Professional communication skills
  • Team oriented, able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Self-starter with ability to work with little or no supervision
  • Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing equipment
  • Ability to work with all supervisors and keep them informed of Control Room situations
  • Must have leadership skills and the ability to fill in for the Production Supervisor if required
  • Excellent work ethic - high standard of safe performance and production
  • Assist in various labor activities during plant outages.
  • Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in extreme heights
  • Visual acuity, speech & hearing, hand & eye coordination.
  • Walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, balancing, repetitive motion, driving, and squatting to perform the essential functions of this production labor position.
  • You must use proper personal protective equipment as required.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Must have good hand/eye coordination and vision to operate equipment safely.
  • Pass required physical examination and drug screens.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Works in all weather conditions including heat, cold, ice, rain, and high humidity and is required to work in all plant environments. Incumbents will be exposed to vibrating equipment and mechanical and electrical hazards and heights.May have exposure to dust, cement, clay, gypsum, sand, diesel exhaust, lubricants, solvents, various fuels, etc. (See MSDSs)
