Clinical Information Science Summer Intern

We are seeking three undergraduate junior or masters-level students majoring in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field for a 12-Week Student Intern role in Gaithersburg, MD for a May 19th - August 8th contract period.

Objectives/Goals of the Position:

• Understanding published oncology clinical data.
• Learning and applying Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Generative AI techniques to extract relevant information across Oncology Tumor Types and Mechanisms of Action (MoA).
• Developing innovative solutions/tools to enhance automation.

Primary Duties:

• Apply and enhance existing ML/NLP models.
• Assist in building applications using ontologies.
• Explore new methodologies, including Generative AI, to enhance automation and visualization
• Additional responsibilities will include collaborating with a cross functional team and presenting in team meetings.

Position Requirements:

• Undergraduate junior or masters-level students majoring in Computer Science, Data Science , or a related field. **Candidates must have an expected graduation date after August 2025.
• Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, R script).
• Experience with visualization tools (e.g., Spotfire, Power BI).
• Familiarity with or willingness to learn NLP techniques and tools.
• Familiarity with or willingness to learn Generative AI models (e.g., GPT, BERT).
• Enthusiasm for collaboration, cross-functional projects, public speaking, and presentation design.
• US Work Authorization is required at time of application.
• This role will not be providing CPT/OPT support.
• Ability to report onsite to Gaithersburg, MD five days a week. This role will not provide relocation assistance.
• Minimum grade point average of 3.0.
