JOB OVERVIEW
Repair Specialist II ensures that highly technical Collision repair procedures on client vehicles are done promptly, cost effectively and efficiently within the policies set forth by both the clients and Wheels, Inc. A Repair Specialist II is responsible for administering the highly technical requirements of automotive repairs based on I-CAR & ASE approved repair standards, and application of the client's repair needs within the policies and procedures of the Collision Management Department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Authorize collision repairs and/ or repair recommendation on behalf of Wheels clients
- Review and approve high dollar repair estimates utilizing I-CAR repair resources, and crash guides resources, such as Mitchell, PenPro by Audatex, and CCC
- Adhere to PenPro by Audatex, Mitchell, and CCC or current parts and labor reference guides for parts pricing and labor times
- Negotiate the cost of the repair to the published fleet price or the pre-negotiated Wheels Network rates & times.
- Issue and verify accuracy of purchase orders
- Approve proper repair based on mileage, months in service, prior repair history; including safety repairs within client parameters
- The ability to handle complex technical issues including engine, axle & transmission repairs, restraint systems, frame and sub-frame repair, drivability & electrical diagnostics with high level of technical skill and analysis
- Expedite higher dollar repair process by timely follow-up
- Thorough knowledge of Collision procedures, systems, individual client needs and automotive repair
- Assist Repair Level 1 with managing difficult files
- Discuss with clients / shops any irregularity involving repairs
- Instruct and assist Driver Service Associate, MAP Repair, and Subrogation Specialists in estimate comparison and review
- Instruct and assist Repair Specialists with coaching and training needs. Administer and close files in accordance with client parameters.
- Be available to answer other repair specialist questions in a positive and constructive manner regarding collision repair problems and procedures
- Assure that follow up is done for "down vehicles" within 24 hours
- Assist as required during peer absences including Team Lead, Supervisor and Manager
- Assist and instruct drivers in rental, tow, and process driver requests as needed
- Meet key performance indicators on quality & transactional performance (e.g. coaching/desk audit evaluations, average severity, OON Fees, etc)
- Provide details about shop performance to Network Management for Network Vendor growth
- Assist MAP with overflow calls by taking MAP calls daily as required. Other duties as assigned.
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES- This position has no managerial responsibilities.
COMPETENCIES - SKILLS- Demonstrate working knowledge of MAP & Collision procedures & systems
- Basic understanding of specific / individual client parameters
- Thorough knowledge of automotive body repair
- Thorough understanding of collision repair within fleet management
- Understanding of Driver Services & Network Management MAP & Collision functions
- General knowledge of all Wheels departments
- Creative and efficient problem solving skills.
- Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office
- PenPro by Audatex and / or current estimating software
- Superior customer service abilities
- Must have the ability to foresee "open" repair items, and preclude potential high dollar supplements when possible, and make timely determination of possible structural / financial total loss declarations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE- A minimum of five years automobile adjusting or appraising experience
- ASE Master Certified in the Body tests (B2-B6)
- I-CAR Platinum Certified, maintain on a annual basis
- 2 year Collision Repair Specialist experience and performance rating of Exceeds or better
- PC familiarity including, but not limited to, Windows, ADP estimating systems, and other Wheels supported systems.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS, PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTWork Environment: This position is Remote once associate can demonstrate competence in systems and processes. Training may be in IL office and operates in a professional office environment.
Positions Type/Standard Schedule: This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday.
Travel: This position might require travel for initial training.
Physical Demands: Speak, hear, and see, and to use hand and fingers for computer keyboard and phone. Sit or stand for extended periods of time. Reach above head to pull paper attachments.
