The Role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Communications Director, who will develop, implement, and oversee strategic communications initiatives to promote Thornton Tomasetti's services, projects, and brand. This role includes leading public relations efforts, managing media relations, and ensuring internal communications align with the company's objectives. The Communications Director will work closely with executives and project teams to communicate the firm's expertise and achievements to various stakeholders.

You will report to the principal in charge of Business Development, Marketing and Communications. While leading a global team based in the UK and US.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute communication strategies that support the firm's goals, including brand awareness, reputation management, and client engagement.
  • Oversee the creation of content that highlights the firm's engineering projects, technological expertise, and industry leadership.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key media outlets, industry influencers, and journalists.
  • Write and distribute press releases, media statements, and other public relations materials to generate coverage
  • Manage internal communications to ensure staff are informed about key company initiatives, projects, and news.
  • Collaborate with HR and other departments to maintain effective communication during organizational changes or initiatives.
  • Ensure consistent use of the firm's brand guidelines across all external and internal communications.
  • Work with design teams to ensure visual elements of the firm's branding are effectively communicated.
  • Oversee the creation of marketing materials, case studies, blog posts, project reports, and client presentations that showcase the firm's work and capabilities.
  • Develop and implement social media strategies that enhance the firm's online presence and engagement.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders including clients, investors, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field. A master's degree is a plus.
  • At least 10 years of experience in communications, with at least 3-5 years in leadership, preferably within an engineering, architecture, or technical industry.
  • Proven track record in media relations, content creation, and strategic communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to a broad audience.
  • Strong understanding of digital media, social media, and SEO strategies.
  • Leadership skills, with the ability to manage a team and collaborate across departments.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Collaborative work culture with an emphasis on innovation, quality, and client satisfaction.


Compensation
The rate for this position generally is$1,000-$800,000annually.This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same compensation.Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted byNew YorkEqual Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee's pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
