Job Description
Vertex is seeking a Construction Consultant to join our Surety team! This role provides the opportunity to leverage your expertise in evaluating construction claims, assess project risks, and support surety providers in navigating complex challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and inspect construction activities, ensuring quality assurance and compliance with project specifications
- Review and interpret construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and contracts
- Perform technical evaluation of construction performance and payment bond claims
- Conduct audits of project schedules and finances, preparing detailed reports
- Review and prepare construction contract claims while supporting other regions as needed
- Manage project documentation and submit timely reports, including time sheets and expenses
- Travel as required for projects. Travel includes both local and national travel, with minimal notice
QualificationsEducation & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field (work experience considered in lieu of degree)
- 2+ years of professional experience in construction project management or claim management
Required Certifications & Skills
- OSHA 10 or 30-hour training (company provided)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic scheduling applications
- Strong technical writing and project management skills
- Understanding of construction contract administration, CPM scheduling, and CSI principles
- Ability to travel locally and regionally, including overnight stays
