Job
Summary:

The Family & Community Engagement Coordinator is dedicated to developing programs designed for and with children, families, and PreK-12 classroom educators. The coordinator's primary responsibility will be to collaborate with stakeholders from schools and nonprofits to identify community needs and design programs to meet these needs. This role oversees contract teaching artists and volunteers. The position is grant funded, as such it is a part-time, one year, in residence appointment, with the possibility for annual renewal.

  • Plan and develop family programming. Lead role in the implementation of all PreK-12 programs.
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct gallery tours for PreK-12 students and families.
  • Assist and facilitate with a team of teaching artists who provide instruction for family and PreK-12 programs.
  • Train and supervise volunteers and work-study students.
  • Contribute to creating marketing and outreach materials for educational programs.
  • Assist with writing grants for PreK-12 educational programming.
  • Assist with creating specific educational materials for exhibitions (children's labels and brochures, family gallery guides, and other special materials).
Minimum Qualifications
& Education:
  • Associate's degree or higher.
  • One year of job-related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • College degree in art history and/or education.
  • Experience teaching in a museum or other informal learning environment.
Knowledge, Skills, &
Abilities:
  • Ability to translate complex content into teaching moments, and to engage children of all ages.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Broad knowledge of art history and the ability to interpret a collection for a general audience of all ages.
  • Ability to meet, inform, and interact with students, faculty, staff, and the public in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Complete tasks on time, including implementation of programs and the submission of grant applications, grant reports, board reports, event planning, and purchase orders.
  • Proficiency with computers and desktop software skills (MS Word, Access, and Excel).
  • Experience working with design services like Canva and/or the Adobe Creative Suite.

Additional
Position Information:

Assignment Dates: Tuesday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM (Saturdays as scheduled).

Work Schedule: The Coordinator's role is scheduled to work approximately 24 to 32 hours per week and for a total of or fewer than 1,000 hours per year. The schedule will depend on availability and department needs with the ability to work flexible hours.

Pay Rate: Rollins offers a competitive hourly rate and there are no benefits associated with this position.

  • Office and meeting environment.
  • Work requires visual strain, use of computer.
  • Works occasional weekends.
  • Occasional teaching and meetings at offsite locations. Must have reliable transportation.
