Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is looking to add to our finance leadership team with a new opportunity for a Director Finance Strategic Initiatives. This position serves as a strategic advisor and partner to the business. This position is responsible for leading near-term strategic planning for the Finance division. In partnership with the Associate Vice Presidents and Senior Vice President, this position will establish and manage the process for evaluating and planning the divisional strategic roadmap to ensure support and alignment with enterprise strategy, executive leadership, and the fundamental success factors of the organization.

What you'll do

  • Process Integration: harmonizing workflows and processes across different departments or business units to improve efficiency and reduce duplication of effort.
  • System Integration: oversee the divisional integration and optimization of financial systems and technology solutions to enhance operational efficiencies.
  • Data Integration: ensure data performance and accuracy, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring data is reliable, consistent and accessible for reporting and strategic decision-making.
  • Strategic Integration: aligning business strategies with operational processes and technology to ensure that all parts of the organization are working toward common goals. Works with analytics teams within and outside of the division to develop reporting tools and systems to report business outcomes, Fundamental Success Factors (FSFs) and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Cultural Integration: aligning organizational cultures and practices to ensure smooth transitions and unified goals.
  • Responsible for overall strategy, roadmap, and governance of the Workday platform; acts as the primary contact and escalation point of contact for Workday stakeholders.

What you need

  • Bachelor's degree required within a discipline requiring strong analytical aptitude such as, but not limited to business administration, finance, or economics.
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in roles related to business process management, project management, or integration.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience leading teams.
  • Strategic Vision & Adaptability: Ability to see the big picture, align integration efforts with organizational goals, and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Proficiency in working effectively with various departments and external partners, with strong verbal and written communication skills to convey complex ideas.
  • Leadership & Influence: Capability to lead cross-functional teams, motivate others, and drive integration initiatives.
  • Decision-Making & Problem-Solving: Skill in making informed decisions quickly, identifying issues, and implementing effective solutions.
  • Risk Management & Change Management: Ability to identify potential risks, develop mitigation strategies, and manage resistance during organizational changes.
  • Attention to Detail & Analytical Thinking: Precision in handling integration tasks, with a strong ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Negotiation & Project Management: Expertise in negotiating with stakeholders and vendors, and managing multiple projects, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines.
