Why You Will Love this Job:

The Director of Global Materials Management directs all phases of Electronic and Mechanical parts Sourcing, Production Purchasing, Customer Service, SIOP and Logistics functions at the corporate headquarters, and oversees those activities across all Curtis locations worldwide. This position is responsible for the negotiation and implementation of worldwide supply contracts that ensure consistent supply of materials at lowest total cost and lowest in house inventory in factories employing lean manufacturing methods. The Director of Global Materials Management is responsible for the implementation of strategies to minimize inventory at raw materials and finished goods levels, for ensuring optimal freight lanes are used, and for warehousing and distribution strategies that achieve "world class" service levels from all Curtis facilities worldwide.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Responsible for Managing the Purchasing, Customer Service, Planning/SIOP, Distribution and Logistics departments located at corporate headquarters. Establish goals, objectives and performance criteria to meet corporate objectives for each function.

• Provide guidance and corporate direction to the Purchasing, Distribution and Logistics departments located at other Curtis subsidiaries.

• Compile, compare and publish comprehensive monthly performance measurements relating to Purchasing performance, inventory management, logistics costs, and warehousing fill rate for all relevant Curtis subsidiaries

• Establish and foster supply chain relationships at the executive staff level with component suppliers, both manufacturers and distributors, negotiating long term agreements that benefit Curtis.

• Promote and champion lean methodologies within Curtis facilities worldwide. Focus on inventory pull methodology when possible and develop inventory availability assurance programs on those parts that need to be pipelined.

• Lead the SIOP process, making sure that the Master Scheduling/Forecasting group provide accurate and timely information.

• Coordinate with Product Managers, Engineering groups and Manufacturing plants to ensure materials are available for pre-production runs and for the timely startup of volume production.

• Publish Supplier Logistics Guide with routing instructions and update quarterly, taking into account historical supplier performance.

• Identify and realize cost reduction opportunities, achieving yearly targets set by senior Management.

• Ensure Curtis complies to hazardous materials movement regulations and restrictions, and generally applies good practices on environmental issues.

• Institute exceptions reports that highlight incorrect part profile data and safety stock levels (raw materials and finished goods) in the ERP system, and correct as necessary, revising procedures and retraining staff should that be appropriate.

• Develop and implement speculative inventory stocking models for each distribution center based on market demographics, working with Sales to quantify and recover costs from customers.

• Perform detailed analysis of inventory and resulting turns and employ strategies to minimize it.

• Perform annual analysis of inactive, excess and slow moving inventory determining best solutions for consumption, liquidation or reserve accruals.

• Publish criteria for ABCD parts and implement globally.

• Review and approve Purchase Orders, PPV's and freight costs over and above the levels and limits of each subsidiary head.

• Develop methodology to accurately monitor freight invoices to ensure Curtis is receiving negotiated incentives when applicable with the ability to recover "missed" incentives. Revise process with formal incorporation of corrective action within Curtis or with carrier. Coordinate with strategic customers and suppliers to maximize incentive structures.

• Actively participate in the Product Development teams to ensure new product designs are optimized for materials costs, and that they specify components that are not difficult to acquire.

• Investigate, quantify and publish potential VA/VE projects relating to materials, championing them to completion

• Develop strategies for each manufacturing plant individually that ensure that components are optimally Sourced for them, and result in the lowest total cost. Manage the Sourcing group accordingly. Ensure that the strategies for each plant accommodate tariffs, duties, inventory and transit time.

• Conduct special projects as directed by senior management; providing assistance to any Curtis location worldwide when required or requested on issues that arise requiring immediate action and resolution.

• Abide by all company rules policies, and procedures. Perform other related duties as assigned

• Take the lead on the quantification and minimization of inventory, calculating any necessary reserves and making sure that unusable, excess or slow moving inventory is promptly and property dealt with.

• Monitor the performance of Materials related staff worldwide, working with them to correct identified problems.

• Drive materials costs down generally, and create a culture where all materials related staff actively do the same. Make sure that when new products are released, supply chains are already in place, and parts are available at high volume costs.

• Maintain healthy supply chain relationships with effective communications to insure Curtis is visible to the executive staff of critical suppliers, so that Curtis is afforded the appropriate attention and delivery of product throughout any potential business cycle fluctuations.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree or higher.

• Knowledge of USDOC import and export laws, EUR1, NAFTA, IATA regulations and USDOT Title 49.

• 10 to 15 years in a Purchasing or Materials Management role in a modern, high volume "lean" manufacturing environment.

• Substantial experience with electronics and mechanical components supplied into manufacturing plants.

• Minimum 5 years managerial or administrative experience of a large multicultural staff.

• Strong analytical skills, and the mindset that data drives decisions.

• Thorough knowledge in modern principles and practices of MRP/ERP and lean manufacturing strategies.

• Competent in Access, Excel, and Word, report writing.

• Ability to interpret and understand mechanical blue prints and electronic specifications and datasheets.

• Ability to direct or lead a cross functional, matrixed and worldwide team to meet department or corporate objectives.

• Strong verbal/written communication skills, and team based thinking.

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to think strategically and express ideas effectively.

• Excellent business and people judgment skills.

• Strong professional negotiation skills.

• Ability to balance global and local priorities. Ability to achieve agreed business and operational objectives.

The salary range for this position is $148.200.00/yr - $191.800.00yr . The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
