Accountabilities

Strategic Management and Execution

  • Accountable for setting and driving the GBS Legal Services Strategy across the entire Enterprise.
  • Ensure adherence of services to all legal and compliance requirements.
  • Plan and implement the optimal delivery model for Legal Services in line with GBS location strategy.
  • Set and deliver the Legal Services technology strategy.
  • Handle contracts with third parties for technology and managed solutions.
  • Drive ongoing improvement and innovation within the department.

Operational Delivery
  • Lead all aspects of the operational delivery of all Legal Services, including governance of the operating model for eDiscovery and compliance investigations.
  • Lead the GBS Legal Services Leadership Team of approximately 5 members.
  • Lead Legal Services teams across 4 current locations.
  • Monitor and mitigate delivery risk across all services.
  • Handle the GBS Legal Services budget, including regular re-forecasting and reporting.
  • Ensure continuous improvement and operational excellence within Legal Services.
  • Interpret both existing and new laws and regulations relevant to the services delivered.

Partner Management and Influencing
  • Liaise with Senior Leaders across the Enterprise to set Legal Services strategy and report on operational delivery.
  • Be seen as an SME in the industry and contribute to industry debate, discussion, and direction.

Programme Delivery
  • Accountable for the successful delivery of programmes related to Legal Services strategy, on time and within budget.

Member of CLCO Leadership
  • Contribute to the development of the strategy of CLCO and wider GBS.
  • Be a visible leader for CLCO and GBS, encouraging talent across the organization.

Essential Skills/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (likely in Law or Technology)
  • 10+ years' experience working and leading teams across the EDRM lifecycle with prior hands-on experience in data collection, processing, and team leadership
  • Prior in-house experience in a corporate legal or IT eDiscovery group
  • Strong understanding of Legal Hold and Information Governance principles
  • Knowledge of litigation workflow pertaining to the discovery process, project lifecycle, and production process
  • Experience in leading and sustaining diverse partner relationships
  • Consistent track record of engaging with and influencing senior leadership
  • Proven track record to lead and influence without authority
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to establish and direct a team through a dynamic working environment with a focus on deadlines
  • Strong operations management skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent team leadership and understanding of team dynamics
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong quality control/assessment and risk assessment skills

Desirable Skills/Experience
  • Juris Doctor degree strongly preferred
  • Prior experience in a similar role
  • Prior experience in a law firm setting
  • Prior experience in the biopharmaceutical industry or a consulting firm working with pharmaceutical clients
  • Understanding of relevant laws, regulations, guidelines, and internal policies relating to Legal Services
  • Global/cross-cultural experience
