Job Summary:

This position is for an Embedded Software Engineer to work in the Transmission system and Software Team. This position involves developing transmission requirements to design, develop, and test software. We have a fabulous team that does some of the most exciting work at Caterpillar, and we can't wait for you to join the team!!

What You Will Do:

  • The embedded software engineer will develop embedded 'C' and/or Model Based software in Matlab/Simulink to meet system requirements.
  • Analyze transmission requirements to create the software requirements specifications documents.
  • Plan, design, develop, test, and maintain software for transmission controls.
  • Integrate common software library modules, integrate source code generated from a code generation tool, perform lab verification of software, and participate in system validation.
  • Collaborate with other teams to provide support for integration, validation, and issue resolution.
Education requirement:

Requires a bachelor's degree in an accredited Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Engineering curriculum.

What skills you will have:

Software Development:
  • Working knowledge of electronic control systems and/or embedded software for automotive, on-highway truck, or off-highway applications.
  • Capable of designing and developing embedded 'C' and/or model-based code (Matlab/Simulink) to meet system requirements
  • Ability to maintain software utilizing a software version control tool
Requirements Analysis:
  • Ability to review system requirements and develop software specifications.
  • Ensures completion of all activities and deliverables per the requirements analysis
Technical Troubleshooting:
  • Capable of troubleshooting software issues and identify a resolution
  • Ability to utilize software development tools aiding issue investigation

The location for this position is Mossville, IL

Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

This position may require less than 10% travel

Summary Pay Range:
$95,640.00 - $143,520.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
