Job Description

Position Summary / Responsibilities

  • Leveling Factors: Knowledge, Skills and Ability Applies extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines
  • Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings
  • Problem Solving Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity
  • Discretion/Latitude Work is performed without appreciable direction.
  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment
  • Completed work is reviewed from relatively long- term perspective, for desired results
  • Impact Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role
  • Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives
  • Liaison represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects
  • Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications

9 Years with Bachelor of Science degree in related field; 7 years of relevant professional experience with a Master's Degree; 4 years of relevant professional experience with a PhD.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Able to provide technical liaison support between the Planning Yard, Naval Supervising Activity (NSA), and Program Management Representative (PMR).
  • Able to provide interpretation of design products and assistance in resolving technical problems.
  • Able Support the local NSA and PMR during availability work periods with modernization and repair assistance.
  • Able to provide assistance in response to Condition Found Reports.
  • Ability to Represent the Planning Yard at daily and weekly production reviews.
  • Possess a working knowledge of planning yard processes.
  • Experience with ship modernization, availability, process and procedure.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Engineering experience and knowledge of systems for CG47, LCS, LPD17, LHA and LHD ship classes preferred.
  • Prior experience in support of waterfront production efforts.
