The Mosaic Carlsbad Mine located in New Mexico, produces KMag, a unique fertilizer product delivered to farmers around the world for use in agriculture and in a variety of industrial environments.

Are you our next Engineering Associate?

Reporting to the Mine Engineering Manager, the Engineering Associate's responsibilities include (but are not limited to): installing survey stations, measuring, and updating maps of surface and underground facilities and workings, conducting reconciliation measurements, and updating ventilation and escape maps.

What will you contribute?

  • Actively participate in Mosaic's relentless pursuit of an injury-free workplace.
  • Install surveyor markers underground to direct mining using a total station and hand tools.
  • Conduct permanent surveys underground to connect mining locations and surface locations.
  • Physically map underground workings and update digital mine maps accordingly.
  • Reconcile mining tonnages and locations on a monthly basis using mapping and database software and provide pertinent reports to key stakeholders.
  • Update and provide all escape and ventilation maps to the operation.
  • Provide operations with any key information required such as work maps on demand.
  • Assist engineers with any duties required such as taking ventilation surveys, performing chip sampling, and underground core sampling.
  • Complete engineering projects as assigned.
  • Perform proper documentation for all work conducted.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have the Following:
  • Certificate of Technology in Civil, Environmental, Mining, or related engineering discipline strongly preferred.
  • Underground mining or heavy construction experience with exposure to environmental and safety compliance and management elements. Demonstrated engineering technology and design experience.
  • Microsoft Office experience required. Emphasis on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Applicable plant operations software experience.
  • AutoCAD experience preferred.

  • Able to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
  • Physically able to use standard safety equipment which is rated for 300 pounds or less.
