The Enterprise Architect will be responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of enterprise-wide technology solutions that support our clinical research operations and enable us to deliver innovative therapies to patients faster. As the Enterprise Architect, you will be a senior individual contributor, reporting to the CIO, and will work to establish and continuously mature SCRI's Product, Architecture & Engineering Practices.

The successful candidate will:

  • The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of network architecture, security practices, infrastructure optimization, and cloud computing. They will collaborate with other architects and technology teams to ensure robust, scalable, and secure IT systems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate, establish and govern Technology standards for reduction in variability and complexity in SCRI'S technology landscape.
  • Continually work with internal stakeholders to evaluate and assess technical debt and risks to business; advise on and mitigate solution architecture risks for current and emerging initiatives and projects.
  • Participate and collaborate with the CIO and CIO staff to continuously balance short- and long-term technical needs, objectives, as well as oversee the realization of the architecture Continuum by providing guidance to members of engineering organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Design scalable, interoperable solutions that bridge clinical, operational, and business systems across the organization
  • Work with clinical, IT, and business stakeholders to define and document business capabilities and processes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and strategy.
  • Ensure adherence to healthcare regulations and data privacy standards such as HIPAA, GDPR, and others
  • Guide and mentor solution architects and development teams by providing technical direction
  • Collaborate with vendors and technology providers to implement top-tier clinical research platforms
  • Develop work plans to meet business priorities and deadlines; coordinate and delegating resources to accomplish organizational goals; partner internally and externally to make effective business decisions
  • Work closely with stakeholders to develop road maps for business applications, align development plans, and to ensure effective integration among information systems and the IT infrastructure.
  • Monitor technological advancements to ensure that solutions are continuously improved, supported, and aligned with industry and company standards as well as emerging business requirements.
  • Understand the interactions between systems, applications, and services within the environment, and evaluate the impact of changes or additions.
  • Analyze systems to continuously ensure performance and reliability, identify process optimization and automation opportunities, enhance scalability, and meet security requirements
  • Defines and communicates the architecture standards, guidelines, and statements of direction by facilitating the design and establishment of architecture standards or controls.
  • Collaborates with project teams and business users to create architecture artifacts (for example, logical, conceptual, physical) to guide detailed design.
  • Demonstrates a full understanding of the architecture best practices for assigned domain(s) and educates others throughout the organization on the function of architecture methodologies, governance, and standards.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Mandatory: The following are mandatory expectations of all SCRI employees.
  • Practices and adheres to the "Code of Conduct" philosophy and "Mission and Value Statement."
  • During your employment with SCRI, you will be routinely assigned training requirements. You are expected to complete any training assignments by the due date.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems or related technical field. Additional equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • 10+ years of enterprise architecture experience, preferred in healthcare/life sciences
  • Enterprise Architecture - TOGAF, Zachmann - certification is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ArchiMate of similar standards is preferred.
  • Deep understanding of clinical research processes, systems, and regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, etc.) and terminologies
  • Experience architecting cloud-based solutions and data platforms for clinical/health data
  • Strong communication, client services, and interpersonal skills
  • Fierce passion for collaboration and growing with others
  • Experience working in an Agile delivery environment (Scrum) is a must
