ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY : Under general supervision of the Assistant General Manager of Kellogg West, the Operations Manager is responsible for leading a team to accurately and efficiently execute facilities operations as directed. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below and will vary based upon a variety of factors including business necessity, location, and customer requests.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
- Provides on-site supervision of facility operations and all events, programs and meetings within the Kellogg West Hotel & Conference Center, and Kellogg House, and leads a team of well-trained individuals to provide excellent customer service.
- Leads and assists with setting, striking, and converting meeting room and event setups as needed. Provides feedback and instruction to staff to ensure all details are executed.
- Ensures safety and security practices are followed for all facility occupants. Provides immediate response to situations and communicates appropriately to safety officials.
- Oversees the execution of daily operations of the events and guests' needs, including but not limited to audio-visual, and custodial service.
- Manages staff and student employee schedules efficiently based on operating needs.
- Responsible for recruiting, training, and retaining employees.
- Collaborates with Enterprise Facilities to place, track and seek completion of all facility and preventative maintenance work orders; may be responsible for conducting minor facility repairs.
- Maintains facility equipment inventory, and ensures visual standards are met for all occupants and guests.
- Communicate effectively with guests, clients, staff members, managers, and other stakeholders
- SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the training of staff necessary to carry out effective operations of the area assigned; directly supervises part time individuals, leads and crew members; assist in the supervision the activities of contracted staff providing services that may include A/V, room setups, custodial, landscaping, trash collection, pest control, repairs and other facility services. Will be supervising students.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of three years related experience, preferably working in a college student union facility or higher education conference center position responsible for performing the duties indicated above, including supervision of student employees.
- Experience working with event management software such as EMS, CaterTrax, 25Live, etc.
- Experience with audio / visual equipment and room setups.
- Experience with scheduling employees based on business needs/events on calendar with fiscal responsibility in mind.
- Must have ability to manage staff with company's Mission, Vision and Values as guiding forces.
- Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures to variety of situations.
- Ability to be resourceful and to take initiative.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a diverse environment.
- Flexibility to adjust to changing schedules; open to new ideas and adaptable to changing technology.
- Strong writing skills.
- Valid CA driver's license and insurance.
- Must be able to pass a background check and LiveScan
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Direct knowledge of and experience in facility and event management.
- Experience in hotel & conference center hospitality and events services.
