POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Diagnostics Platform Finance Lead the Finance Diagnostics Cluster Lead will be responsible for the financial oversight and operations of the Union City, San Diego and Durham manufacturing sites, including execution of financial analyses and accounting.

All 3 sites financial results and analysis would be coordinated by this role and would provide insights to the Platform Finance Lead and GMS FP&A to drive decisions and improve performance. while facilitating the sharing of best practices across the sites within the Cluster and across the whole of the Diagnostics Platform.

The role directly partners with the three Site Leads and their teams, providing strategic guidance, financial analyses, setting stretch targets and driving year on productivity improvement across all aspects of P&L financials and cashflow.

Internal customers rely on this position to influence and drive improved performance in their function / site through identifying opportunities, setting strategies, respectfully challenging and debating with site & function heads and providing insights to drive decisions, investments and resource allocation.

The role provides direct leadership & development for the Dx Cluster Finance Manager, with indirect leadership to GMS Finance Centre of Excellence colleagues.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cluster Lead for all Finance Operations activities across the 3 sites
  • Business partner with 3 Site Leads on defining and implementing a holistic manufacturing strategy, driving "Make" cost levers to deliver required levels of service at the appropriate cost in a sustainable manner.
    • Lead Major Capex Investment proposals (CPA's)
    • Partner with Site LT's to deliver productivity targets (CIP projects)
    • Partner with GMS Procurement (& Procurement Finance) to drive Price improvements
    • Partner with GES (& GES Finance) on potential Strategic Make Vs Buy evaluations
  • P&L Accountability for delivery of Actuals (Vs Budget), Op Plan & Forecasts:
    • Partner with Site Leads & site LT's to deliver cost (P&L) & cash (Capex & Inventory) Plan.
    • Oversee monthly accounting close process and timely and accurate reporting of financials. Ensure reported financial position is in accordance with US GAAP.
    • Evaluate Make cost performance and identify any trends that need further performance analysis or intervention.
    • Lead deep-dives to fully understand and address performance issues
    • Present financial position with Site Leads at Monthly, LE and Plan reviews
  • Lead, define and evolve team organization, processes and structure to advance the teams and individuals development, capabilities, career progression and service level to the business.
    • Development of Finance Manager, with appropriate delegation and segregation of duties.
    • Working with CoE to ensure the correct work is done in the correct place, the correct way.
    • Create a workplace that fosters teamwork and strengthens communication within and outside the department.
  • Capital project oversight:
    • Ensure quality business cases development, reviewing soundness of financial models and alternative actions within CPA's;
    • Drive increase in returns and value for money from capital expenditure with regular follow ups post implementation
  • Compliance:
    • Review & safeguard company assets through the maintenance of effective SARBOX controls; including Inventory and Fixed Assets.
    • Work with internal compliance teams to improve the efficiency of our internal controls to focus effort on meaningful controls to provide assurances on compliance

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
  • Role sits withing GMS Finance hierarchy at ZET-4 level; reporting into Diagnostics Platform Lead and partnering with Site Leads.
  • Key interactions with GMS Finance FP&A team and other GMS FLT members e.g. GMS Procurement financial support, plus internal corporate finance groups (mainly Controller team).
  • Build strong relationship with key Diagnostics Commercial (finance) team members to generate insights and joint action across the Diagnostics business e.g. Gross margin improvement.
  • Limited external interaction, other than financial audit partners.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • BA (Hons) Degree or equivalent and a Qualified / Chartered accountant e.g. ACMA, CPA, ACCA
  • 10+ years post qualification experience in a senior financial role demonstrating progressive, financial/business experience in Supply Chain / Manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships at all levels within a matrix organization
  • Preferred experience:
    • US GAAP experience
    • Experience of working in a multi-national, multi-cultural manufacturing environment

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards (US GAAP) and Supply Chain processes (e.g. S&OP).
  • Thorough understanding of business, processes, systems and internal controls
  • Experience with ABC Costing and practical experience with cost accounting
  • Excellent communication (both oral and written) skills with demonstrated ability to present ideas to and influence others.
  • Excellent technical aptitude and experience with Excel, Anaplan, Power BI •
  • SAP experience across all financial modules desirable
  • Communication/ Influencing: Ability to communicate, guide and influence effectively at all levels and in different cultures (factory floor and Senior Leadership/Function heads).
  • Business Partnership: Proven participation in Platform/Global financial analysis and decision making. Understands and applies financial acumen from a global / enterprise perspective. Demonstrated insight and understanding of partner functions and their relationship with finance in order to achieve goals.
  • Personal / Team Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate people/teams in a matrix and global environment towards a common vision and achieve superior results. Able to develop strategies, objectives, goals and measures to effectively lead a team and provide value added insight to business partners to drive favorable financial performance.
  • Problem Solving: Able to navigate through complex business problems involving organizational structure, process and policy changes, multi-discipline and functional impacts.
  • Critical Thinking and Analytical Skills: use seasoned judgement to evaluate quantitative and qualitative information in complicated networks and ambiguous situations. Effectively define assumptions, issues and uncertainties; & perform complex analyses to drive recommendations and decisions.
  • Financial Acumen: Understands and applies financial acumen from a global / enterprise perspective.
  • Strategic Thinking: Anticipating issues and opportunities (economic, political and geographical impacts) to ensure the Platform is prepared for future growth

PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • The role is mainly office / desk-based with limited additional physical requirements.
  • Role will involve some travel across the 3 sites in the Cluster and occasional travel to meet with key stakeholders across the GMS and Diagnostics organizations
  • During busy periods e.g. Plan preparation, extended working hours may be required

Base Pay Range: $210K - $240K

This position is eligible for short-term incentive compensation and long-term incentive.
