SUMMARY:

The HR Representative provides information and assistance to employees, managers, applicants, and the general public regarding human resources and other information requests. Researches; recommends solutions; and resolves HR issues and questions. Processes HR transactions; enters data into appropriate HRIS systems; and audits HR information for completeness and accuracy. Provides backup, special project and event support, and rotational assistance in all HR business areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides information and assistance regarding HR and other information requests:

  • Provides information and answers questions regarding the application of human resources policies and procedures to employees; refers questions requiring policy interpretation to HR specialist or management.
  • Provides information and assistance on employee benefits, compensation, talent management; and payroll; researches solutions; resolves issues; and refers complex issues requiring interpretation to HR specialist or management.
  • Recommends solutions to HR issues and questions by researching applicable laws and UR policies and practices; gathering data from HR systems and external vendors; and discussions with UR managers, department representatives and employees.
  • Provides information and assistance to job applicants with respect to the job search and application process; assists applicants with questions about job vacancies and application status; refers requests for in-depth job search assistance to talent acquisition specialists.
  • Monitors the URHR Inbox, answers the URHR telephone line, and if needed, routes the emails inquiries/calls appropriately; quickly ascertains needs; gathers information; and provides an accurate and timely response.
Processes HR transactions; enters data into appropriate HRIS systems; audits HR information:
  • Prepares HR forms and letters; receives, reviews, and processes documents pertaining to new hires, benefits enrollment, and personnel actions; and audits information for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with established policy and procedural requirements.
  • Follows up with employees, department representatives, and managers as necessary to ensure resolution of problems involving incomplete, inaccurate, or non-compliant documentation.
  • Maintains and updates documentation tracking systems and databases; ensures proper recording, approval, and disposition of all documents received by the center, in accordance with established policies and procedural guidelines.
Assists with other HR related duties as needed:
  • Provides backup and assistance to other HR Representatives on a rotational basis or as otherwise required.
  • Assists all HR business areas with assignments, special projects, and events.

  • Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, even under pressure
  • Excellent collaboration and team building skills
  • Knowledge of human resources processes, procedures, and documentation
  • Data management and tracking, and records management skills. Knowledge of legal requirements for the acquisition and retention of employment and/or contract data and documentation
  • Working knowledge of automated job application systems and procedures
  • HR/Payroll data entry proficiency on a computerized HRIS
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Ability to provide clear technical guidance and instruction to non-technical personnel
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree or at least 3 years of work experience applicable to the duties listed in the job description
WORK HOURS:
  • Full-time, non-exempt position
  • Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week
SALARY STRUCTURE:

Pay Grade 5 (Hiring Range $19.72 to $26.13 per hour)
