**This is a SECOND SHIFT position: 2:00-10:00PM CST**
What You Can Expect
As a Caterpillar Industrial Equipment Painter safely clean and prepare materials prior to paint application, apply prime paint and topcoat (finish coat) to components and machinery to obtain a high-quality finish consistent with company standards in both spray and booth applications.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Responsible for putting safety first with a goal to prevent all injuries, occupational illnesses and safety incidents. Sand, mask, wash, paint and touch-up components and machines according to blueprint and engineering drawings Electronically and manually maintain documentation for labor hour records, work order processing, and production documentation (Serial Number reporting, Material Transfer records, Defective Materials reports, etc.). Perform activities related to hazardous waste handling Prioritize work to meet production schedules. Take initiative to identify, document, communicate and correct problems related to paint, report discrepancies and recommend solutions. Identify and relay information for correction on discrepancies in affected assembly processes, safety, quality and production issues. Support team People, Quality, Velocity and Cost (PQVC) initiatives and daily activities. Work and interact effectively in a team environment in alignment with our Code of Conduct and Values in Action. Complete other projects as needed. Work with limited supervision
Successful candidates must bring (Required Requirements):
- Experience in equipment paint processing or a paint related certificate or certified trade school/technical degree in paint related field
- Experience in top coat, prime coat and electrostatic paint
- Ability to read blueprints/engineering drawings
Top candidates will bring the following skills and/or experience (Preferred): - Leadership experience
- Heavy crane equipment experience
- Ability to read standard work and write continuous improvement cards
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Principles
- Ability to utilize computer for production transactions, standard work updates and various projects
- Experience using paint tools including cup paint gun, sanders and buffers.
- Knowledge of paint properties
- Knowledge of Caterpillar standards for paint quality (1E 2001 specs for paint)

Additional Information: Shift: 2nd Shift
Hours: 2:00PM-10:00 PM CST; Monday-Friday
Work Location: Brooklyn Park, MN
Compensation: $27 + HR, plus Quarterly Gain Sharing up to 10% Work Environment Exposure to paint fumes, catalyst fumes, isopropanol fumes and wash fumes Exposure to wash, paint application and clean up chemicals Noise levels of 85db or greater.
Physical Requirements: Operate overhead cranes, jib cranes and hoists Lift up to 35lbs frequently Work at multiple heights Climb on equipment, machines, ladders, man lifts and various step stools Stand for a minimum of 8 hour shifts with minimal breaks Work in environment with frequently changing temperatures Exposure to magnets that may impact medical devices Kneel, squat, and crawl on knees Work in awkward positions, including forward reach, lateral reach, squat, overhead reaching, twisting and forward head and rotation of neck. Work in tight spaces Repetitive grasping, pushing, pulling rotating Use of fine motor skills Use of paint and wash tools including cup paint gun, sanders and buffers etc.
