The Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI) is Stanford University's interdisciplinary research and teaching institute on international policy and international affairs. FSI is home to more than fifty faculty scholars and hundreds of other researchers and students-undergraduates, graduate and post-doctoral-who share an academic interest in international policy questions and challenges. FSI sponsors research and teaching programs, convenes conferences and seminars and hosts lectures by leading scholars and policymakers to advance understanding of the most pressing international policy challenges facing the world today. FSI also seeks to influence and shape policy by communicating research, data and ideas both in public and private to journalists and policymakers.The Israel Studies program will focus substantially on the development and contemporary challenges of democracy in Israel and will help to broaden the scope of FSI's comparative research and teaching on democracy. This is a 100% FTE, fixed term position for three years from the start date and may be extended based on program need and funding availability. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Program Manager will oversee and administer key aspects of the Israel Studies Program. The Program Manager will:
      Represent the Program or function as the key contact point within the department, unit and/or school.Coordinate the communications and events of the Israel Studies Program, including helping to arrange and publicize speakers and workshopsWrite and edit reports, proposals, and content for the program webpage summarizing seminars and workshops and publicizing future eventsParticipate in meetings and take notes to recap to program leadersDevelop ties to students, faculty, and community members interested in IsraelDevelop communications for internal and external constituencies.Coordinate with other FSI units and other campus programs and centers interested in Israel and the Middle EastCoordinate partnerships with other US-based Israel Studies Programs, particularly at the Hellen Diller Institute for Jewish Law and Israel Studies at U.C. Berkeley.Organize and/or participate in outreach activities such as events, partnerships,
      fundraising, training, and conferences.Maintain communication with Israeli scholars interested in the Program and American scholars interested in Israel.Monitor expenses, budgets and finances of the program, and help to process payments and reimbursements. Make funding recommendations and projections.Assist the Program Chair and Visiting Fellows administratively. Participate in meetings and take notes to recap to Program leaders.

CORE DUTIES:
      Oversee and administer research activities by evaluating academic programs, making recommendations that impact policies and programs, and coordinating and implementing changes.Collect and analyze data, create reports, review and explain trends to determine program effectiveness; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/or recommendations to achieve the goals of the program.Teach and/or assist in the teaching and administration of courses. Create and/or advise in the development of curriculum. Make recommendations for course improvements.Write and edit content for proposals, peer-reviewed publications, and other program activities under the general direction of PI. Assist with the development of research grants, (i.e., may suggest new funding opportunities, write portions of grants, and/or summarize data for grant support).Represent the program or function as the key contact and subject matter expert within the department, unit or school and develop communications for internal and external constituencies. Organize and/or participate in outreach activities such as events, partnerships, fundraising, training, and conferences. Lead workshops and facilitate meetings.Monitor expenses, budgets, and finances of the program. Make recommendations on funding based on program spend.May oversee and train student workers.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience or combination of education, training, and relevant experience. Advanced degree may be required for some programs. Program administration and or research experience may be required.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
      Substantive knowledge of issues pertaining to Israel, US-Israel relations and the Middle EastProficiency in Hebrew language strongly desiredStrong organizational abilityBackground in international educational programs and program administration Excellent interpersonal skillsExcellent written and oral communication skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
      Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.Frequently sitting.Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, use a telephone, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

The expected pay range for this position is $88,861 - $102,254 per annum
