Job Title: Japanese-English Interpreter & Translator- $57k to $71k Salary

Job Summary

This role is essential for fostering clear communication between Japanese and English-speaking teams, particularly in interactions among upper management, production, and administrative staff, as well as during recruitment processes. The successful candidate will facilitate both verbal and written translation with technical accuracy and attention to cultural nuances, supporting seamless collaboration across the organization. Prior knowledge of automotive manufacturing terminology is a plus, or a willingness to develop this expertise.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Interpretation and Translation

• Provide simultaneous and consecutive interpretation during meetings involving upper management, production, and administrative teams.
• Facilitate accurate, real-time communication during interviews and HR activities, ensuring a positive and clear candidate experience.
• Translate documents, presentations, and technical materials between Japanese and English with precision, recognizing cultural and technical nuances.

2. Technical Language Adaptation

• Develop and maintain an understanding of automotive manufacturing terminology relevant to the Corporation.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure technical content is communicated effectively and aligns with operational goals.

3. Document Preparation and Presentation

• Prepare, translate, and support the creation of presentations and reports using PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
• Ensure translated documents adhere to company standards and meet communication needs across various departments.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with HR, production, and management teams to support communication needs for projects, events, and employee interactions.
• Provide cultural insights to promote better understanding and enhance interactions between Japanese and American team members.

Required Qualifications

Language Proficiency

• Fluent in Japanese and English, with strong listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in both languages.
• Ability to interpret technical and manufacturing-related discussions accurately and promptly.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Teams, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
• Experience with or a willingness to learn automotive industry terminology specific to the Corporation.

Interpersonal and Cultural Sensitivity

• Strong interpersonal skills with an adaptable communication style that fosters effective cross-cultural interactions.
• Familiarity with Japanese and American business etiquette and communication norms.

Attention to Detail and Adaptability

• Exceptional attention to detail in translations and interpretations.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills / Experience

• Prior experience in the automotive or manufacturing industry.
• Experience in interpreting for senior management or technical teams.
