Laboratory Analyst

EAG is looking for a Laboratory Analyst to work in the Materials Characterization group, in Sunnyvale, CA, who will obtain and report the results of analyses to internal and external clients. The Analyst will be responsible for sample handling, sample preparation, performing analyses, processing data, report writing and customer service. The ideal candidate will be required to report results of findings to internal and external clients and will work in a diverse, team oriented environment. To be successful in the position, the individual will be expected to work independently on a variety of assigned tasks with a range of future deadlines. This position will be in the surface analysis, organic analyses and materials properties group so some familiarity and hands-on experience with techniques such as AFM, Profilometry, FTIR, GCMS, XRF, XPS would highly advantageous.

Employee Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for sample handling, preparation and mounting for analysis
  • Performs analytical work to determine the identity, composition, properties, and/or structure of materials.
  • Prepares reports on analytical results for customers, including interpretation of results.
  • Become familiar with relevant quality system documents and complies with all system requirements.
  • Protects confidential information and proprietary processes.
  • Handles customer materials and company equipment in a responsible, confidential and efficient manner.
  • Follows established safety protocols and procedures at all times.
  • Other duties as may be assigned based on circumstances and performance.
The Ideal Candidate would possess:
  • B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science or a related field, with 1+ years of professional work experience in a relevant technology focused industry.
  • Experience in some of the following techniques is highly desirable: AFM, Profilometry, FTIR, GCMS, XRF, XPS
  • Experience in conducting chemical analyses in a controlled lab environment
  • Fluent in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to communicate with other team members to discuss analytical goals clarify issues and resolve potential issues.
  • Well-developed technical writing skills required, as well as the ability to communicate scientific results and conclusions concisely and accurately.
  • Visual acuity and manual dexterity required.
  • Some standing, lifting, and bending while conducting chemical analyses; ability to work in a chemical and analytical laboratory environment is require d.
