Job Summary:

This posting will establish and maintain a pool of part-time lecturers with experience teaching undergraduate Sociology courses in designated fields of the discipline, which may include specializations in areas such as Understanding the Social World, Inequalities in the Social World, Medical Sociology, and Families and Sociology for the Department of Sociology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Colorado Denver. By submitting your application, you will become part of an applicant pool. Candidates hired from this pool will fill temporary, non-tenure track positions and will teach no more than two courses per semester. Appointments will be part-time (less than 50%) and will be made semester-by-semester, depending on the needs of the department and subject to budgetary approval. Therefore, this posting does not necessarily reflect a current open position. The Department of Sociology will contact you if there is an opening that suits your qualifications.

The Sociology Department at CU Denver is a mid-sized department with active, engaged faculty and students. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

·       MA in Sociology or related field

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

●      PhD in Sociology or related field

●      At least one year teaching at the college level

·       Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

·       Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution

·       Outstanding customer service skills.

·       Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.

·       Understanding of Ethical Reasoning and Logic, Language and Scientific Reasoning

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $1,559 per credit hour (lower division), $1,645 per credit hour (upper division), or $1,808 per credit hour (graduate level). 

The above hiring rate represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
