Position Purpose:
Work collaboratively with Safety, Quality, Production, and Maintenance to identify robust automation solutions to improve our manufacturing processes. Supervise and execute engineering activities, implementing these automation improvements to our manufacturing processes including distribution, kitting, packaging, elastomers, and machining. Oversee the design, development, build, and implementation of automation and continuous improvement projects utilizing integrators and cross functional teams from concept phase to production support phase. Actively communicate with Operations Group assisting with needs and process improvements. Ability to utilize a structured problem-solving approach when working to resolve issues.
Essential Functions:
• Define future technology requirements
• Assist in defining long-range capital planning
• Selection, justification, and implementation of automation equipment
• Refinement of automation processes through tooling and methods optimization
• Implement methods, processes, or layout changes to reduce overall costs, improve quality and expand manufacturing capabilities
• Participate in product design reviews to reduce the time frame from concept to job one
• Develop and maintain operator work instructions for automation work centers
• Support manufacturing to protect the customer
• Supervise Controls Technician responsibilities.
• Continually optimize and decrease setup and changeover times
• Provide technical assistance to the manufacturing and maintenance functions to solve chronic or complex problems
• Analyze existing procedures and processes for improvements
Education and Training
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Automation/robotic knowledge required
• 5+ years manufacturing engineering experience required
• Background in team approach to problem solving expected
• Ability to manage, prioritize and complete multiple tasks on a time bound schedule required
• PLC, Fanuc, AutoCAD, Unigraphics, Solid Edge, MSOffice, Mpact, or similar software/programming experience needed
• Knowledge of TS16949 and IATF 16949 preferred
• Supervision experience preferred
• Experience with lean manufacturing environments preferred
• Capital equipment procurement background a plus
• Preventative Maintenance and TPM experience a plus
• Assembly experience is an advantage
