Materials Coordinator- 1st Shift

Position Purpose:

Ensure achievement of productivity objectives by employee while following policies and procedures. Track inventory, evaluate materials and processes to maintain a safe and orderly work environment. Assist in and drive corrective action initiatives.

Essential Functions:

Under the direction of the Materials Supervisor, perform the following materials coordinator responsibilities:

• Safety

o Ensure Employee safety by ensuring all safety devices are in use, the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is always worn, and safety rules/policies/practices are followed.

o Report all accidents / near misses to the Materials Supervisor, Materials Manager and Safety representative within 24 hours. Participate in the completion of the accident investigation / report.

o Ensure Employees within the materials department attend all safety related training events.

• Coordination and Leadership

o Coordinate and schedule Employee's work assignments to achieve established materials goals and productivity objectives.

o Ensures compliance to the Employee Handbook, Boler Code of Business Conduct, and all other policies and procedures.

o Conducts daily shift meetings to communicate safety, quality, shift expectations, production levels, delivery performance, overtime, upcoming events, etc....

o Execute daily staffing, monitor output levels, and the material handling of parts to meet or exceed planned productivity levels.

o Motivate, provide clear direction and set expectations for new and existing hourly and contract personnel.

o Maintain 5S initiatives within shipping, packaging, material handling, warehouse and receiving areas.

o Maintains cooperation among department and shifts, effectively resolves concerns, and notifies Materials Supervisor of disciplinary concerns.

o Actively act as coordinator on opposite shifts to ensure Coordinator coverage as needed

• Training

o Ensure that all hourly and contract personnel have the required training and tools to meet operational needs.

o Execute the training process and associated documentation.

o Assist with the update and maintain work instructions and training guides.

o Execute cross training initiatives of the department.

• Operations

o Oversee assigned areas to meet published production and material/picking/shipping schedules by utilizing QAD work order/pick sequence information to determine and prioritize daily schedule.

o Produce reports to inform Materials Supervisor of work plans to meet delivery of daily production.

o Notify Materials Supervisor of all quality issues. Participate in red tag/rework activity/materials validation activities to drive overall materials accuracy.

o Drive to solve daily materials issues. Continuously evaluate tooling methods, materials, processes, and equipment to develop and implement safety, cost, quality improvements. Actively seek involvement of other Employees in this effort.

o Manage inventory movement from warehouse to maintain inventory accuracy.

o Verifies end of shift tasks are completed, tools/equipment are returned to designated areas.

o Maintain regular attendance.

Education and Training

High School diploma or GED required

Minimum Qualifications

• One year of experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or production environment required

• Demonstrated leadership skills required

• Excellent communication skills required

• Results-oriented individual possessing analytical skills and demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize projects. Ability to execute multiple responsibilities, projects, and activities

• Computer literate using windows-based software

Physical Demands

• Standing and walking for extended periods of time

• Computer work

• Occasional lifting, bending, twisting, turning, push/pull activities

Environmental Conditions

• Exposure to manufacturing and warehouse environments
