Medical Assisting AdjunctSalary: $5,000 - $6,000 per 5 credit hours
Classification: Adjunct Faculty
Reports to: Dean of Nursing & Allied Health
Olympic College is continuously recruiting for adjunct faculty to teach courses in the Medical Assisting Program. Continuous Recruitment listings are for potential future needs. Essential Functions
*Teach course(s) in accordance with college catalog, schedule of classes, course outlines, course syllabi, and any departmental guidelines
*Teach grounded sections and/or courses online
*Provide quality teaching including related preparation and grading
*Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes and to the division office
*Maintain accurate records of students and complete forms as required
*May require evening, weekends, and holiday instruction
*Punctual communication with students, faculty, and staff
*Coordinate practicum education
*Ensure documentation of the evaluation and progression of practicum performance
*Perform other related duties as required and/or assigned
*Demonstrate teaching and learning principles, behaviors, and attitudes that promote inclusivity diversity, and social justice.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Two (2) years of recent health care experience as a MA, LPN, or RN or relevant military and/or teaching experience. Intermediate computer competency including technology in the classroom. Must have familiarity and ability to teach all facets of medical assisting, including anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, vital signs, eye and ear examination and testing, pulmonary function testing, ECG performance, microscope usage, various CLIA waived laboratory testing, autoclave usage and sterilization techniques, safety and the OSHA standard, phlebotomy, processing of specimens, chemical analysis of urine and blood through automated and manual methods, inventory and ordering practices, and IM, ID, and SC injections.
Preferred Qualifications
Associates degree or higher from an accredited college or university. Possess a CMA, RMA, NCMA, or NHCMA or have current MA or nursing license. Teaching experience.Successful applicant will

Terms of Employment
Faculty members must submit official, unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of their employment.This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary listed is a range based on per quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and/or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and off-campus assignments including travel to clinical sites may be a part of the instructional load. Adjunct positions at the college are open continuously and reviewed on a quarter-by-quarter basis. Individuals who apply to the applicant pool are considered active for a period of 12 months from the application date and may be contacted when vacancies occur. Adjuncts are not eligible for benefits upon their initial hire, Adjunct faculty must work 50 percent of a full-time load for two consecutive quarters to become eligible. Conditions of Employment
