Job Description Summary
The Molding Service Manager is responsible for managing the machine shop, mold shop, and maintenance services. This role supports operations and production, collaborates with engineering on projects, and oversees the budget for service departments, including the machine and mold shops and maintenance services.
The manager will create and oversee a master plan for the replacement and refurbishment of equipment, molds, and machines.
They will manage the team leaders in the shops and service departments within the Molding area.
Additionally, they will establish and maintain an effective inventory system for all service departments and oversee any required training for department personnel.

Job Responsibilities: (Primary Duties, Roles, and/or Authorities)

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Manage team leaders in the service departments of Molding (mold shop, machine shop, maintenance shop) to deliver accurate and timely results.

2.Provides servant leadership and motivation to technical and hourly associates to achieve desired quality, quantity, service and cost standards through safe and proper utilization of materials and equipment

3.Responsible for building a strong communication channel between services, operations and engineering.

4.Emphasize continuous improvement mindset for a safety-first mentality for all departments.

5.Maintains effective partnership and supports Product Line and PM teams to diagnose high-complexity breakdowns and provide coaching during root-cause investigation promoting reliability tools & techniques.

6.Ensures optimal availability, maintainability, and reliability of new equipment as well as assets documentation, including manuals, schemes and other related documents and maintenance plans.

7.Benchmark engineering and Maintenance results against other BD sites and external references

8. Actively participate and drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout organization including Change to Win (C2W) savings program to maintain a high level of operational excellence and contribute to site objectives by leading initiatives to reduce cost with spare parts.

9.Coordinate the implementation of Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) tools and techniques.

10.Create and manage master plan for replacement and refurbishment equipment, molds, and machinery.

11.Create and manage robust inventory system for all service departments. 12.Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.

Education and Experience:

Minimum Education:

This position has the following minimum educational requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED: Required
  • BA/BS Degree - Required - Science, Industrial management, Engineering or a related field


Minimum Experience:
  • 5 years of manufacturing experience in a highly automated environment required
  • 3 years of people leading experience preferred

Physical Demands: (if applicable)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs as needed.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.


Work Environment: (if applicable)
  • PPE is required when in machine shops.
  • Monday - Friday 7am-3:30pm set schedule with on-call availability.
  • On-site required.
