Description:

  • Reporting to the Director of Labor and Delivery
  • The Nurse in Charge (NIC) is a designated clinical leader for a patient care area who works under the supervision of and in collaboration with the Department Director to plan and coordinate care at the service/department level.
  • Our Labor and Delivery nurses provide comprehensive care to women during one of the most significant times of their lives: childbirth. Our unit is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and staffed by a team of highly skilled professionals committed to ensuring a safe and comfortable birthing experience. We provide personalized care for a diverse patient population, handling everything from low-risk deliveries to high-risk obstetric cases.
Responsibilities:
  • Cost effective decision-making regarding operations including utilization and application of resources. (i.e., human resources, patient care environment, supplies, etc.)
  • Directing and supervising professional and non-professional staff
  • Determining staff assignment and scheduling
  • Assuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Participating in the development of patient care standards and delivery of care processes.
  • Facilitating and participating in staff development, including orientation and training.
  • Participating in performance evaluation and management including verbal coaching and counseling.
  • Participating in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the quality improvement and safety plan.
  • Maintaining a clinical environment that demonstrates service excellence.
  • Functioning as a professional role model and resource person.
What you will need:

Required:
  • Baccalaureate in nursing required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of specialty specific experience in an acute care setting.
  • Advanced computer skills to include data entry and retrieval, including Microsoft specialty products.
  • Reads, writes, speaks and comprehends English language.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex and comprehensive information thoroughly and succinctly.
