Tulane University Program of Nursing is seeking to a faculty nurse educator position with experience in Med/Surg Nursing. The proposed Tulane Program of Nursing has received step one approval through the Louisiana state board of nursing.
Position is located in the New Orleans Metropolitan area. This is a full time appointment on the Educational (non tenure) track. Candidates will receive their academic appointment at Tulane University School of Medicine at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, dependent on previous academic accomplishments and experience (following the School of Medicine and University Personnel and Honors review/approval.)
Responsibilities include developing instructional material in a hybrid format for baccalaureate level nursing courses, related to the specialty area assigned. In concert with the Dean of the Program and the Director of Curriculum & Academic Affairs for the Nursing Program, participate in the development of the curriculum, implementation, and evaluation processes for the program to ensure alignment with professional standards and best practices in nursing education; collaborate to develop academic standards, student policies, and clinical procedure guidelines; and participate fully in departmental initiatives to support the mission of the Program of Nursing.
The successful candidate will demonstrate effective teaching at the baccalaureate level, including the practice of active and engaged learning strategies, and will provide supervision of students in direct patient care experiences, as well as simulated and skills laboratory-based experiences. Candidates will evaluate student clinical performance according to established criteria and course objectives, advise students on academic curricula, demonstrate a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students, as well as demonstrate the scholarship of teaching through meaningful involvement in presentations and/or publications annually. Candidates will also provide service to the University, community and profession.
