Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, Regular Business Hours (5 day/week, 8 Hours/Day)

Key Responsibilities:

Tropicana Brands Group is looking for an experienced Occupational Health Nurse to support the Safety team and the employee population to ensure the company's goals and initiatives are met. We seek a critical thinker with exceptional communication, influencing and relationship management skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

The Occupational Health Nurse provides nursing services, first aid and case management to employees or persons who become ill or injured at work facilities, as well as employees with personal medical conditions.

  • Delivers OSHA and jobsite required surveillance program services such as hearing conservation or biological monitoring to employee populations in collaboration with appropriate functional teams
  • Conducts safety and health training, develops and implements health programs, and manages the worker's compensation process and transitional duty program
  • Performs post-hire physical assessments, hearing testing, vision testing, respirator fit testing, and the creation of molds for custom hearing protection
  • Maintains accurate recordkeeping in the electronic health record in compliance with HIPAA requirements and in alignment with OSHA and company policies and procedures; provides coaching, health education, as applicable
  • Must be a Registered Nurse (RN)

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical care and appropriate referral for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses within the scope of the FL State Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act and Occupational Physician standing orders
  • Act as a case manager throughout the worker's compensation injury process
  • Compile and submit injury and accident reports required by corporate and regulatory agencies
  • Document and maintain health files in the electronic health record in compliance with HIPPA standards
  • Support the coordination of transitional duty as appropriate for work-injured employees
  • Develop and foster strong working relationships with external healthcare providers, risk manager, insurance carriers or third-party administrators
  • Participate as a first responder for onsite medical emergencies and serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team
  • Provide health and safety training sessions and programs
  • Perform other assigned responsibilities as required

Requirements:

  • Licensed RN in the State of Florida, or multistate RN license in good standing
  • BSN degree with 3+ years of experience as a Registered Nurse strongly preferred
  • Registered Nurse with Associate of Science in Nursing and at least 5 years of RN experience acceptable
  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) is strongly preferred. Certified Case Manager (CCM) desirable
  • 2+ years' experience in Occupational Health, or 5+ years' experience in a clinical setting
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; BLS Instructor certification preferred
  • Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) certification or ability to attain certification within 6 months of hire
  • Occupational Hearing Conservationist certification or ability to attain certification within 6 months of hire
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook email & calendar, MS Word, Excel); demonstrated proficiency with adapting to various software applications
  • Highly-developed assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Strong employee education skills, and ability to support employee's performance of health activities
  • Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently or with a team on special projects
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain confidential documents and information
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects at one time under tight deadlines
  • Ability to function within all levels of organization
  • Must have permanent, unrestricted U.S. work authorization (citizen, green card, or unrestricted EAD)

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, squat, kneel, and work in high elevation areas.
  • Ability to push, pull and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to hear, see and operate computer systems, telephones, printer/ copier/scanner.
  • Ability to operate controls, switches or buttons on various medical equipment systems.
