Description:
Occupational Therapist for outpatient primarily, some inpatient opportunity services at Good Samaritan Hospital.

To provide clinical leadership in the development of the daily operation of the Occupational Therapy service, to include day-to-day clinical service delivery, coordination of staffing, program quality development and monitoring, input on the performance reviews, and clinical program development within Occupational Therapy.

Evaluates and treats patients referred by a licensed physician in accordance with the Practice Act for the State of Georgia, and the Guidelines for Professional Conduct of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). Actively supervises and participates in the care of patients treated by Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA's). Complies with hospital policies and supports the mission and values of the hospital.
Position Requirements:

Licensure/Certification/Registration:Must be duly licensed by the Georgia State Board of Occupational Therapy.

Education:Must be a graduate of an AOTA or other accredited school of Occupational Therapy. Occupational Therapists may have Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degrees.

Experience: At least two years of clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist, including broad experience in a variety of different clinical settings through their APTA or other accredited clinical internship programs.

Special Qualifications: Must have a working knowledge of the principles and practices of Occupational Therapy, including evaluation, treatment planning, treatment applications, and all manner of ADL training, sensorimotor activities, and restoration of UE functions. Should also be knowledgeable of required documentation and billing that satisfies the Georgia State practice act, JCAHO requirements, and meets the requirements of Medicare, Medicaid , and other insurers. Must be able to plan, organize and coordinate therapy treatments with other therapy providers, most notably Physical Therapists (PT's), and Speech Therapists (SLP's). Must be able to work collaboratively with all other members of the St. Mary's Health Care System, including nurses, physicians, and hospital personnel. Must be able to deal constructively with conflict; collect, analyze and interpret data from a variety of sources and take appropriate action. Must be able to relate to physician referral sources and demonstrate excellent customer service. Must be willing and able to participate in clinical quality measurement and performance improvement programs as requested, and be in compliance with all of St. Mary's Health Care System policies and procedures.
