Operational Excellence Manager
Education and Experience Requirements:
-Bachelor's degree (preferably in a technical field)
-Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience
-Six Sigma Green Belt (Black Belt preferred)
-Proficiency in Kaizen, Kanban, Problem Solving, 5S, Error Proofing, SMED, Team Development, Value -Stream Mapping, TPM, and other continuous improvement tools.
Licenses or Certifications:
Desirable certifications: Lean and PE Black Belt.
Essential Purpose of This Position:
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Operational Excellence Manager will lead and coordinate consistent deployment of key operational improvement initiatives within the plant. This critical role involves developing the strategy plan for operational standards, including LEAN, Six Sigma, and Plant KPIs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Implement Six Sigma methodology, Lean Manufacturing Practices, and Kaizen Events in collaboration with plant leadership to drive sustainable continuous improvement efforts.
-Enhance operational performance by implementing quality, scrap, and MUV (Material Usage Variance) improvements using scalable DMAIC principles.
-Analyze statistical data on business performance to identify improvement opportunities.
-Collaborate with the plant leadership team to establish improvement goals and metrics.
-Work with managers to target areas for improvement and develop the Operational Excellence plan and overall framework (quantified opportunities, prioritization, etc.).
-Lead 5S initiatives by conducting regular audits and follow-ups to ensure sustainability.
-Manage major improvement projects.
-Provide training and coaching to plant personnel on various continuous improvement tools and initiatives.
-Lead high-impact projects where coaching alone is insufficient due to scope and complexity.
-Conduct post-implementation audits to ensure full implementation and sustained benefits.
Skills and Abilities Required:
-Proven experience in successfully implementing lean/quality improvement initiatives in an industrial manufacturing setting.
-Strong problem-solving skills.
-Effective coaching and teaching abilities.
-Understanding of team dynamics and ability to maximize team effectiveness.
-Excellent communication skills to manage and coach for effective implementation of Operational
-Excellence processes.
-Proficient in program management.
Computer Equipment and Software Requirements:
Proficiency in MS applications (Office, Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Familiarity with Minitab is preferred.
