Description:
Ida Jane Dacus Library seeks a dynamic, and innovative, Outreach and Engagement Librarian to join a collaborative, user-focused, Research and User Services (RUS) team. The Outreach and Engagement Librarian will take the lead in promoting the library's collections, resources, and services to the campus and surrounding community. This 12-month tenure-track position reports to the Head of Research and User Services and plays a key role in student success by promoting Open Educational Resources (OER), and cultivating a vibrant, inclusive, library environment that encourages engagement, exploration, and discovery. The pay range for this position is $55,000-$58,000, commensurate with experience.Major Responsibilities

  • Provides engaging and informative programs, exhibitions, orientations, and recreational events
  • Manages the library's social media accounts
  • Establishes and engages an active Friends of the Library group
  • Develops cooperative initiatives with academic departments and campus units
  • Promotes OER and provides OER training and workshops
  • Teaches information literacy and participates in reference service rotations
  • Participates in collection development and serves as the departmental liaison for select academic units
  • Engages in scholarship and performs activities aligned with tenure and promotion
  • Performs other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned

Required Qualifications:ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS degreeTwo years of experience in library servicesExcellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skillsAbility to create and deliver informative programs, workshops, and eventsExperience creating promotional materials using various programs (e.g. Canva, Adobe)Ability to develop and execute effective social media strategiesDemonstrated design skillsKnowledge of and appreciation for OERsAbility to take initiative and think creativelyAbility to establish priorities, and manage multiple projects simultaneouslyAbility to work independently and collaboratively as part of a teamKnowledge of library catalog systems and databasesPreferred QualificationsKnowledge of program assessment techniques and toolsExperience providing reference services and library instruction
