Plant Buyer (Food Packaging)

Location: Red Boiling Springs, TN
Salary: $80,000.00 USD Annually - $90,000.00 USD Annually
Description: Our client is currently seeking a Plant Buyer. The Plant Buyer will report directly to the CEO and responsible for organizing and supervising purchasing functions. Together with another buyer, you will be responsible for managing daily activities in purchasing including all direct production goods and packaging as well as capital projects.

This job will have the following responsibilities:

• Together with CEO & Group purchasing director you will define and manage the purchasing strategy of RBS with the goal to buy the best quality at the lowest cost.
• You will take care of purchasing the raw materials (mainly fruits, vegetables) and all packaging materials. In addition, you will supervise / back up the purchasing of all indirect / capital goods.
• Contract management to include all aspects (e.g. administer, review, manage, file, evaluate, analyze, and negotiate).
• Negotiate or renegotiate to obtain the lowest price and best conditions.
• Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
• Help implementing the ERP system with regard to the purchasing process and improving this process constantly. Make sure that this administration is compliant with company and external standards.
• Compile data from variety of sources for analyzing and ensuring you have identified all opportunities for cost savings.
• Participate with Quality in reviewing and assessing our suppliers.
• Manage the small team and the departmental budget.
• Special projects and/or other duties as assigned.
  

Qualifications & Requirements:

• 5+ years experience within Purchasing/Buyer/Sourcing/ Procurement Management Role within the Food Industry
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Experience buying food packaging materials, or
• Proven negotiating skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skill.
• A strong analytical mindset
• Outstanding organizational skills
• Must be self-motivated
• Hands on - problem solver with methodology principles
