Summary:

The Process Engineer I manages the entire cement manufacturing process. This position analyzes the process and suggests ways to improve operations.

What you'll be contributing:

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Analyzes the cement production process and implements changes for optimal operating conditions for fuel efficiency, electrical efficiency and production rate.
  • Participates in the training of the control room operators on the proper ways of using plant equipment.
  • Works closely with shift process teams to ensure mills and pyro lines are consistently operated at peak efficiency.
  • Performs programming of the plant's programmable control systems and provides maintenance, documentation and improvements for computerized process systems.
  • Performs performance testing and measurements on production equipment.
  • Maintains equipment performance records including wear part life history.
  • Provide technical support to the Production Department to achieve objectives of maximizing plant production of quality-controlled cement efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Optimizes process by testing, data gathering, sampling and in-house expertise to provide progressive solutions and enable continual improvement in the production process.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

To succeed in this position, you will need:

  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
  • Minimum of 3 year experience in mechanical, chemical engineering or closely related position.
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or closely related field.
  • Proficient in analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to perform, organize and prioritize work independently.
  • Proficient in English written, verbal communication, and listening skills.
  • Knowledge of pyro processing, thermodynamics, heat transfer, air flow and related principles.
  • Knowledge of PLC systems and instrumentation techniques and guidelines.
  • Ability to make sound independent judgments regularly.
  • Ability to work from general policies and objectives.
  • Ability to refer to supervisor when clarification or interpretation of organizational policy is in question.
