Job DescriptionThe Purchasing and Central Services Department within Centralia College's Finance and Administration Division provides purchasing, supply chain and inventory support and control to the campus community. This position will provide support to campus buyer and department director who are responsible for the purchasing of supplies, materials, and equipment for the institution by handling the purely technical aspects of receiving and inventory control such as properly accounting for incoming goods and mail, performing annual and ongoing physical inventories and collaborating with campus staff on surplus of obsolete equipment.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesCoordinates inventory control and surplus
Tasks include:
Maintains inventory control records on tagged items and/or expendable item; Determines items to be placed on electronic inventory system; Conducts annual physical inventories; Identifies problems and errors and reconciles inventory records with physical count; Collaborates with campus staff to identify and dispose of obsolete inventoriable equipment; May submit surplus requests to outside agencies.
Performs receiving functions
Tasks include:
Unpacks, inspects, and verifies accuracy all goods received by the campus; Label deliveries and allocate them to their designated place; Investigates, researches and contacts suppliers to resolve shipment issues including but not limited to: timeliness of shipment, erroneously filled shipments, damaged goods, discrepancies, or to obtain invoicing information; Applies asset management inventory control tagging when appropriate; May contacts vendor about short or erroneously filled shipments received; May contact carriers to locate goods enroute or discusses the disposition of damaged goods received or any questions
Processes mail and outbound shipping
Tasks include:
Ensures outgoing mail is labeled and stamped according to USPS guidelines; Sorts and distributes incoming mail into campus mailboxes; Ensures outgoing mail is picked up or delivered to USPS daily; Prepares bulk mailings for delivery to USPS; Provides customer service to campus staff with regard to mail and shipping services; May facilitate campus delivery for large or cumbersome packages and equipment with outside vendors or campus facilities staff.
Provides copy and print services
Tasks include:
Operate copy machines and peripheral equipment; Diagnose malfunctions and perform maintenance on duplication machines; Assemble and staple reproduced materials as necessary; Inspects completed jobs for the purpose of ensuring work meets requested specifications, quality standards and quantity requirements.
Performs other duties as needed
Tasks include:
Maintains order and cleanliness in Purchasing and Central Services office and storage areas; coordinate the delivery of supplies and mail with appropriate delivery persons; Maintain and monitor an inventory of paper and supplies; Determine work priorities and schedule work; expedite work flow; Answers questions from campus staff, students and community members regarding Purchasing and Central Services processes, escalates to buyer and/or director when appropriate.
QualificationsHigh school graduation or GED AND two years of experience in inventory control, purchasing, or equivalent. One year of college course work may be substituted for one year of work experience
Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of: supply and equipment procurement, control and accountability; business arithmetic; large scale stock control; inventory records, both machine and manual.
Conditions of EmploymentThis is a full-time non-permanent up to 12-months position. Classified employees are represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE). The state of Washington provides a comprehensive benefits package for state employees including education benefits.

COMPENSATION
Monthly Salary: Range 34 ($3,028 - $3,910)
