Product information management is the process of managing the value propositions to make sure that Bobcat maintains a competitive edge. This position is an expansive role requiring direct product evaluation of, both, Bobcat and competitive products as well as data collection, analysis, interpretation and distribution to Product Management, Marketing, Training and Sales.

The Product Information Manager will serve as the subject matter expert when it comes to Bobcat Product, our competitors and how we are positioned in the marketplace. They will drive prioritization and communication of our Bobcat Product Value and Information to maximize design impact throughout the company.

Role & Responsibility

Competitive Product Information Management

  • Identify, source, and provide industry-best recommendations for product information asset management
  • Providing training and guidance to other team members on how to use product information to inform decision-making.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the Bobcat Product Value and Information documents and reports:
    • Gather and verify product information - collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, and Service to ensure all product information is accurate, complete and up-to-date.
    • Manage the Product Information System - enter, organize, prioritize, and manage the our product information in the database, content management systems and other relevant software applications.
    • Communicate Bobcat Product Value - prioritize, prepare and present the Bobcat Product Value reports to Product Management, Marketing, Training and Sales to drive business objectives.
    • Coordinate with all Stakeholders - work cohesively with cross-functional teams such as Product Management, Marketing, Training and Sales, to ensure that product information is shared and used effectively across the organization.
  • Proactively monitor product market performance - Monitor the competitive landscape of products performance metrics, such as sales, Quantitative and Qualitative Customer Insights reports information at your disposal to maximize how competitive differentiators satisfy the needs of the customer through your team's role in the go to market strategy.
  • Identify and lead activities surrounding competitive product benchmarking to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
    • Analyze, leverage, and execute customer interviews, internal and external data to align the total product value proposition to customer segments and user profile needs.
  • Drive consistency of messaging by auditing commercial activation to proactively identify areas of improvement.
  • Perform key data analysis to identify trends and themes in the competitive product data
  • Maximize the impact of the product by championing the message and driving adoption into all commercial activation.
Functional Competency
  • Create tools and analytical methodologies which will communicate the competitive landscape to the product management team, outside departmental and channel activities.
  • Find opportunities to gain efficiencies, automate, and improve the collection of competitive information and improve the quality of data.
  • Communicate product value proposition, requirements, and rationale with all stakeholders including technology development teams, product management, marketing, sales, finance, and executives.

Job Requirement

  • Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Marketing, or related degree
  • Must have knowledge of business processes by functional area and business unit to ensure complete and accurate alignment of information transfer.
  • 10 years of relevant experience. A background in the manufacturing industry is preferred, but not required.
  • Demonstrate intimate knowledge of how a company researches, develops, markets, and distributes a product. Demonstrate intimate knowledge of how to identify and leverage customer segment tendencies, unmet needs, product differentiators and the strengths of the competition and ability to communicate them. Demonstrate strong leadership, interpersonal and persuasive skills.
