Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:

The mission of the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment is to support the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's teaching, research, and public service mission by conducting research and analysis that informs institutional planning, policy formation, decision-making, and evaluation of effectiveness, and by responding to external accountability mandates and a wide range of internal and external requests for information about the campus.

Position Summary:

*This full-time permanent position is currently needed through December 31, 2026.

The position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. The percentage of on-site and remote work and the schedule may vary over the course of the appointment depending on the status and needs of the projects to be managed. UNC-Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

The Projects and Planning Coordinator (PPC) supports the Associate Provost for Institutional Research & Assessment in the operational management of UNC-Chapel Hill's institution-wide accreditation activities. This entails coordinating various stakeholders, managing project timelines, and ensuring effective communication across units and participants. The PCC role is critical for ensuring that the University meets all compliance obligations to its accreditors and maintains its eligibility to receive and award federal financial aid to students.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent educational or instructional activities associated with the delivery and/or management of student support functions, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and at least 1 year of relevant experience in substitution.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

-Positive attitude and be flexible in dealing with changes in priorities and plans.
-Proven background in project management, with demonstrated skills in planning, organizing, scheduling, estimating, and quality management in coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
-Experience working independently and as part of a team.
-Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to exercise significant independent judgement and discretion in carrying out an assigned portfolio of projects.
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Suite, and project management software and tools required.
-Ability to generate descriptive statistics and tables using SPSS or a similar tool.
-Ability to diagnose problems and provide solutions in a high-volume environment and to remain calm and objective throughout stressful and difficult situations.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

-Master's degree.
-Prior experience that affords a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the mission and structure of a large and complex college or school within the university context.
-Knowledge of faculty ranks, academic policies and procedures, curricula, student services, operational functions, and other functions within the University.
-Previous work experience at UNC-Chapel Hill is strongly preferred.
-Experience with Tableau or other visualization tools, certification in project management (e.g., PMP), and knowledge of accreditation processes.
