Job Summary
IU Dining and Hospitality Receivers are a key part of the production process as they receive shipments of product from vendors, and work with production managers to store product and manage inventory to control food costs.
General Responsibilities
- Receives incoming shipments of goods and materials.
- Unloads trucks and accepts items based upon quantity, quality and condition.
- Monitors inventory.
- Enters data into computerized inventory system.
- Recognizes items and materials that require special handling or storage requirements and treats with appropriate care (perishable, volatile, toxic, etc.).
- Stores goods in designated areas; rotates stock according to shelf life, expiration dates, lot numbers or other criteria.
- Gathers goods and materials from inventory locations as specified by pick list or requisition.
- Secures items on pallet or other container for shipment.
- Reconciles quantities of collected goods and materials with requisition or pick list; transports to dock and loads truck.
- Unloads and loads trucks manually or by operating a power fork lift, rotates stock and moves other bulky and/or heavy items in warehouse.
- Performs inventory counts; participates in monitoring facilities and in maintaining building security.
- May staff a customer service counter and respond to customer requests.
- May use University vehicle to make deliveries and pick up materials.
- Performs routine maintenance and makes minor repairs to equipment as necessary.
QualificationsEDUCATION
Required - High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required - 1 year inventory control, storeroom or warehouse experience
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Required - Valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University
- Food safety (ServSafe) certification within 180 days from date of hire

- Possess strong product knowledge
Working Conditions / DemandsThis role requires the ability to effectively communicate. It involves remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time as well as moving around the work environment. The position requires moving and assembling objects and placing objects on high and low shelving units and storage racks. The role requires the ability to detect details of objects and the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary$16.11 per hour
Work Hours6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, Monday - Friday with alternating weekends.
Management reserves the right to adjust work hours to accommodate special meals and events.
