Summary

Tulane Center for Aging Spatial Multiomics Core is in need of faculty in the Research Track as an Instructor with a strong background in molecular biology, imaging, and histology, to direct its Spatial Multiomics Core. The Instructor will be responsible for client-based projects involving spatial transcriptomics. Tasks include troubleshooting and documentation of spatial transcriptomic-based assays. Specifically, pre-planning of tissue isolation and embedding for spatial transcriptomic projects, sectioning, RNA isolation, quality control, and documentation of the results to aid in publication. The Instructor will provide appropriate spatial transcriptomic sample setup and preparation support and execution for investigators who are seeking answers to biologically important questions and will integrate with the Tulane Center for Aging Genomics and Bioinformatics cores to provide a seamless pipeline for sequencing and bioinformatic analysis. The Instructor will also assess new technology in this area as it develops, track reagent needs for the core, and suggest and make protocol improvements. The Instructor will also be responsible for some business operations of the Core, including working with the Program Manager to order supplies and equipment for experiments, participating in events to raise the profile of the Core, advising and educating potential clients, and preparing quotes for services. The Instructor will be the main public face of the Center for Aging Spatial Multiomics Core.
The Instructor will also participate in academic research. The lab is focused on several aspects of aging biology. The available projects incorporate in vitro and in vivo approaches such as cell culture, immunohistochemistry, gene expression and functional assays, as well as studies using mice. The Instructor will perform independent research in areas of interest with the goal of publishing results in academic journals and seeking grant support.
A qualified successful candidate should be self-motivated and detail oriented with a strong background in molecular biology, genetics, regeneration, aging or developmental biology and have clear oral and written communication skills. Preferred applicants would be willing to work with and guide students, generate publications, contribute to grants, and work as a team to help with the day to day operations of the lab. Preferred qualifications include prior publications and experience working with animal models.
Interested candidates should provide 1) CV, 2) a brief letter detailing your interest in the lab and past research experience, and 3) contact information for three research references.
