Job Summary
The Research Professional (RP) will work with healthcare faculty and other researchers to request data use agreements, prepare and maintain Institutional Review Board (IRB) human subjects research protocols, collect data, maintain databases, conduct statistical analysis, and provide other support associated with healthcare research. This role will also develop templates and other documentation for the Healthcare Initiative and consult with constituents to assist Booth researchers with navigating relevant policies and procedures and local resources for healthcare data research.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and maintains IRB protocols for human subject's research.
  • Coordinates data acquisition process with relevant Booth personnel from data governance, contracting, IT, and Healthcare Initiative.
  • Supports ongoing research projects for faculty and postdoctoral researchers by conducting searches using various databases, compiling and manipulating data.
  • Collects data, conducts complex statistical analysis, writes statistical software programs, and organizes the presentation of results.
  • Maintains databases, reviews background materials, and performs preliminary research.
  • Obtains and organizes information for research from other academic institutions and practitioners.
  • Proofreads and edits citations and assists with preparation of research reports, working papers, and publications.
  • Maintains effective communication with all members of the faculty and outside institutions.
  • Develops templates and other documentation related to healthcare research and shares these resources with other Booth researchers.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned, to support Healthcare Initiative activities to promote healthcare research and data reuse at Booth.
  • Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.
  • Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens. Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a field relevant to the research being conducted by start date.

Experience:
  • A minimum one year of relevant research experience.

  • Work independently with little supervision; possess a self-motivated disposition; identify opportunities for improvement and recommend effective changes, all while achieving key objectives resulting in desired outcomes.

  • Handle multiple detailed tasks/projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines with frequent interruptions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and diplomatically with colleagues, as well as with students, faculty and corporate contacts in a multitude of communication methods i.e., in person, email, phone.
  • Professional demeanor, including tact, discretion, and a customer service-oriented approach.

Working Conditions
  • This position is currently expected to work a minimum three days per week in the office.
