Position Summary:

The Program Manager is a pivotal member of the Gene Therapy Center's team, collaborating closely with the Director and other Center leaders to oversee high-level operations, as well as developing and executing the strategic vision of the Center in its research, education and service missions. Additionally, the Program Manager will oversee administrative operations, including the Center's Viral Vector Core, and manage the Center's operational and administrative staff. This position will serve as a representative of the Center to a number of external groups and individuals, including peer institutions and vendors.
Flexible work arrangements, including remote/hybrid work locations, are an integral part of the School of Medicine's Working Forward initiative. As such, this position's work location is designated as hybrid. Please note that the designated work location is subject to change based on the unit's business needs.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. May require terminal degree and licensure.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

* Possessing strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, the candidate demonstrates exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
* A proven track record in problem-solving, critical thinking, decision-making, customer service, negotiation, and consulting is essential.
* Ability to interpret and communicate policies and procedures to both faculty and students.
* Familiarity with and ability to understand and interpret a broad range of university systems, policies, and procedures
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Candidates should have experience providing administrative and research support in an academic medical setting. Knowledge of accounting and Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel. Familiarity with UNC systems is preferred.
